New York Jets at Indianapolis Colts Betting Preview
04 November 2021

Week 9 of the NFL season kicks off with a matchup between a pair of struggling teams in the American Football Conference (AFC). The Indianapolis Colts host the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football in a game that won’t draw a ton of national attention.
New York comes into this game with a record of just 2-5, and it has been another lost season for the franchise. The Jets did stun the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 8, but they have also been blown out a number of times this season.
Indianapolis was supposed to compete for the AFC South Division crown this season, but they have fallen well off the pace. The Colts are just 3-5 through the first eight games, and they suffered a 34-31 overtime loss to Tennessee a week ago.
The Indianapolis Colts are 10.5-point favorites over the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football.
Offense A Problem For New York
The Jets are scoring less than 17 points per game this season, but they might have found a savior to the offense. Quarterback Mike White was tremendous in the upset win over Cincinnati, and he will be back under center in this one.
A big problem for New York has been trying to run the football as they average less than 80 rushing yards per game. The Jets have to find some offensive balance to find some holes in the Indianapolis defense.
New York has also allowed nearly 30 points per game this season, and that defense will have to improve if the Jets turn the season around.
Colts Secondary Must Get Stops
The Colts were able to completely shut down Derrick Henry and the Titans rushing attack in Week 8, but the secondary continues to give up some big plays. New York is not a team that will take shots down the field, but the Colts can’t afford to give up yards through the air.
The Carson Wentz experiment in Indianapolis has not gone as planned, and the former Eagles quarterback continues to make some terrible decisions. Wentz has thrown for nearly 2,000 yards, but he turns the ball over at some very inopportune time for Indianapolis.
Running back Jonathan Taylor is a real weapon for the Colts, and he has been a touchdown machine this season. Indianapolis will look to run over the Jets on Thursday night.
Colts Cruise to Week 9 Win
The Jets might be coming into Indianapolis with some momentum, but they are also running into a Colts team that is in a must-win situation. Indianapolis continues to come up just short in a number of games, but they will take out some frustration this week.
The Colts have a strong defense, and that unit is going to cause some problems for Mike White and the Jets offense. Once the Colts are able to get a lead, they will simply run the football a ton and put this game away.
This Thursday Night Football Game won’t be competitive as the Colts win this one by double-digits. Bet the Indianapolis Colts -10.5 over the New York Jets in this matchup.
