New York Giants at Kansas City Chiefs Betting Preview/Player Prop

01 November 2021

Week 8 of the NFL season concludes with an interesting matchup on Monday Night Football. The Kansas City Chiefs host the New York Giants at Arrowhead Stadium, and both teams could use a win in this game.

New York comes into this game with an overall record of just 2-5, but they did pick up an impressive win over Carolina a week ago. The Giants are well off the pace in the NFC East, but they still have some time to turn things around.

Kansas City is the most disappointing team in the league so far this season, as they have gone just 3-4 through seven games. The Chiefs have just one win at home so far this season, and they suddenly look very average.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 10.5 point favorites over the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.

Giants Giving Up Some Points

The New York Giants held the Carolina Panthers to just three points a week ago, but that unit has struggled for much of the season. New York is allowing nearly 26 points per game, and that could be a problem when facing the explosive Chiefs.

Injuries have also been a big issue for the Giants, and they could be without a few of their biggest stars on Monday night. This offense is scoring less than 20 points per game, and there will be plenty of pressure on the young quarterback.

Daniel Jones has thrown for over 1,700 yards this season, but he has just five touchdown passes. Jones does have the ability to take off and run, but New York is going to need him to be great in the pocket on Monday.

Mahomes Making Some Mistakes

Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is arguably the best player in the NFL, but he has been making some major mistakes this season. Mahomes has still thrown for over 2,000 yards, but he has also tossed nine interceptions.

Kansas City continues to do a ton of damage through the air, but they need to find more balance on offense. The Chiefs are averaging just 110 rushing yards per game, and they need to establish the ground game early in this one.

The defense for Kansas City has been nothing short of a disaster as that unit is allowing 29.0 points per game. The Chiefs aren’t facing an explosive offense in this game, but they still have to play much better.

Giants Give Chiefs Fits in Loss

New York has just enough talent on offense to do some damage on Monday night, especially against a bad offensive team. The Chiefs are a clear favorite in this matchup, but they have to be better on the defensive side of the ball.

Patrick Mahomes is due for a monster game soon, and it’s hard to believe that he would struggle again against the Giants. Kansas City will win this game with its offense, but the defense will still cause some problems.

Take the 10.5 points and bet on the New York Giants, but it will be the Kansas City Chiefs that pick up a much-needed win.

Player Prop

Travis Kelce (-138) Over 6.5 Total Receptions

The Chiefs offense has been sputtering and that can only mean one thing…more Kelce. The KC Pro Bowl tight end has seen the end zone only one time in the last five games after scoring 11 last year.

But even with the lack of scores, the 32-year-old out of Cincinnati still leads all tight ends in receptions (45) and yards (533).

And that should match up well against a Giants defense that hasn’t been at its best guarding opposing tight ends. New York has allowed 37 catches (15th in the league) for 341 yards (20th) and four TDs (tied for 21st).

The only time Kelce faced the G-Men was in 2017 when he had eight catches for 109 yards. With Kansas City needing to get some kind of offensive spark, we’ll look for Kelce (-138) to have a big game and go over 6.5 catches tonight.
