NBA News: Tuesday, March 7th, 2023

07 March 2023 By Tyler Vaysman

It’s been an interesting few days in the NBA, but there haven’t been a ton of positive news stories that have come out. Fortunately, the league hasn’t been dealing with any major injury issues of late, but several key stars are still out of the lineup.

The NCAA Tournament is going to start to steal some of the spotlight from the NBA, but this league won’t be slowing down anytime soon. Here is a look at three of the biggest NBA news stories over the last few days.

Police Investigating Morant

The Memphis Grizzlies announced that Ja Morant would be away from the team for at least two games, but that might only be the start of things. Morant was forced to step away from the team after an Instagram story showed him flashing a gun at a strip club in Denver.

The NBA has also announced that they have launched an investigation into Morant, and a hefty fine or suspension could be coming as well. There are strict gun laws in the NBA, and those prevent players from having a gun on team premises or flights.

Morant could also be facing some legal issues as police in Colorado have opened up an investigation as well. The gun laws in Colorado do allow people to carry weapons, but not under the influence of alcohol.

Memphis is a team with NBA Championship aspirations, but they aren’t going to be able to reach the NBA Finals without Morant. This is a story that is just starting to get going, and there will be plenty of updates with every passing day.

No Triple-Double For Antetokounmpo

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo thought that he pulled a fast one over the weekend, but the NBA decided to have the last laugh. Antetokounmpo thought that he recorded a triple-double on Sunday against the Washington Wizards on Sunday, and he had the stats to get that done after the game.

Antetokounmpo recorded his 10th rebound with just seconds left in the game, but that rebound came on a “shot” attempt that hit the bottom of the backboard. The former MVP knew that he needed just one board, and he created a shot as a way to get that additional rebound.

On Monday, the NBA announced that it was taking away the final rebound from Antetokounmpo as it wasn’t a real shot attempt. The league always reviews stats from every game, and it’s not uncommon that there are some changes made.

Booker-Doncic Exchange Words

The much-anticipated matchup between the Dallas Mavericks and Phoenix Suns on Sunday lived up to the hype in more ways than one. Phoenix came away with a big 130-126 win in that game, but the personal rivalry between Luka Doncic and Devin Booker stole the show late.

Things appeared to be pretty calm between the two stars, but that all changed with just a few seconds remaining. Booker and Doncic got in each other’s faces after Doncic made a shot that would have tied the game, and a double-technical foul was issued.
