NBA News: Tuesday, February 28th, 2023

Not all of the NBA news is positive, and that has definitely been the case over the last few days. This is an exciting time for teams from throughout the league, but a couple of injuries to star players has put a damper on things.

News from around the NBA isn't going to stop or slow down over the next few weeks, as this is when things really get interesting. Here is a look at a couple of big NBA news stories from around the league. 

Lakers Lose LeBron

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently sitting on the outside of the playoff picture in the Western Conference, and their task might get even harder. Superstar LeBron James suffered a foot injury in the most recent game, and it could keep him on the sidelines for weeks.

James is set to undergo more testing on Tuesday, and that should help the team determine the extent of his injuries. Based on the initial information, NBA insiders have revealed that he is expected to miss close to a month. 

This was a noncontact injury suffered by James, and those types of injuries always tend to be worse than a contact injury. The Lakers did make some improvements to the roster at the Trade Deadline, but they are going to struggle without James.

Since LeBron joined Los Angeles, the team has gone just 36-62 when he is unable to take the floor. 

Ball Out For the Season

The Charlotte Hornets are also dealing with an injury to their star player as LaMelo Ball suffered a fractured ankle. The injury occurred during the Hornets' win over the Detroit Pistons on Monday night, and it will end the season for the young guard.

This was a noncontact injury for Ball, as he turned his ankle while handling the basketball during the third quarter. The Hornets did not announce that the season was over for Ball, but there are just 19 games left in another season without the playoffs. 

The young point guard has played in just 36 games this season as he has been dealing with an ankle injury on the other foot. Ball is averaging over 23 points and 8.5 assists per game this year, and he was a member of the All-Star team a season ago.

Warriors Winning Without Stars

The Golden State Warriors are trying to make a late push up the Western Conference standings, but they are having to do it without a number of key stars. Stephen Curry and Andrew Wiggins have missed a ton of time this season, but it looks like the Warriors dodged a pretty significant bullet. 

The Warriors have had to play the last two games without Draymond Green as well after the All-Star forward suffered a knee contusion in the first game after the All-Star Break. Golden State wanted to make sure that Green was fully cleared, and they had him undergo an MRI just to be safe. 

Those results showed no structural damage, and Green could be back on the floor as early as Tuesday night when the Warriors take on the Portland Trail Blazers.
