NBA News: Sunday, March 5th, 2023

The NBA season continues to roll right along, and there have been some big things happening over the last week. Playoff races are getting tighter in each conference, but there are plenty of other things going on throughout the league. 

Some of the best players in the league are going to be missing some action, while others are going to return. Here is a look at some of the biggest NBA news stories over the last few days.

Morant Set to Miss Two Games

Memphis Grizzlies superstar Ja Morant is one of the brightest young stars in the league, but he has had a rough few days. Morant is going to be missing the next two games for the Grizzlies, but it has nothing to do with an injury. 

Morant appeared to flash a gun on an Instagram live story, and the story was posted from a strip club. This came just days after a couple of news stories came out about Morant and some accusations of violence. 

The most recent development has prompted the NBA to launch an investigation, and a suspension could be coming. Morant has agreed to step away from the team over the next two games, but it's unclear when he will return to the team.

Memphis is currently the second seed in the Western Conference, but they are heading in the wrong direction. The Grizzlies are also going to be without Brandon Clarke for the remainder of the season after he suffered an injury.

Warriors Getting Healthy Again

The Golden State Warriors have dealt with adversity all season long, but they are currently playing some of their best basketball of the year. Golden State just rattled off five straight home wins, and things are going to get better. 

Stephen Curry and Andre Iguodala were both listed as probable for the Sunday game against the Los Angeles Lakers. While Iguodala is not going to have a big role with the team, getting Curry back is a big deal. 

Curry has missed 11 straight games for the Warriors as he is dealing with a leg injury. Iguodala has played in just three games this season, but he brings a veteran presence to the team. 

The Warriors have not announced if there will be a minutes restriction for either player, but having them back will provide a big boost.

Suns Hire New CEO

The Phoenix Suns are continuing to overhaul their front office, and they just recently made a new hire. According to league sources, the Suns are planning to hire Josh Bartelstein as the new CEO. 

Bartelstein is currently an executive with the Detroit Pistons, but the Suns targeted him right away. Mat Ishbia is the new owner of the Suns, and he made it a priority to hire Bartelstein away from the Pistons. 

James Jones will remain the director of basketball operations, and he will continue to make all of the basketball decisions. Bartelstein has been working in the NBA since his college career ended as a walk-on at the University of Michigan.
