Two teams that have a storied history will face off again this weekend. The Navy Midshipmen, with a record of 4-7 this season will try to salvage an unimpressive season.
To do this, they’ll need to take down the Army Black Knights, a team that they’re familiar with. The good news is Navy is coming off a 17-14 win over UCF on November 19.
The last five games for the Army Black Knights have gone fairly well. They’ve won three of their last five games including a huge win over Massachusetts.
However, they come in as just one-point favorites here, which is surprising. With a high-scoring offense, Army will look to get off to an early lead. From there, they’ll focus on staying ahead of the Midshipmen.
Navy Midshipmen: Navy needs to focus on running the ball
There are a few things that the Navy Midshipmen are pretty good at. One of them is running the ball, where they rank seventh in college football.
Averaging 239.5 rushing yards per game, the Midshipmen should use this to their advantage. We’d like to see them pass the ball more but that’s not a strength that they possess.
Their leading receiver is Jayden Umbarger who only has 16 receptions this season. Their offense as a whole only averages 91.4 passing yards per game.
By running the ball efficiently, Navy could keep control of this game. They’ll definitely need to be better on defense, however, because Army is one of the best.
Army Black Knights: Army looks to end the season with a win
The season didn’t go over too well for the Army Black Knights. However, they did find a way to get a few wins in a row over the last two weeks.
In their game against Massachusetts, their offense was electric, led by Tyhier Tyler. Tyler rushed for just 101 yards but he had three touchdowns on the day. The team scored 16 points in the fourth quarter alone.
The one thing that we have to talk about when it comes to Army is their ability to score. They rank 59th in the country in points per game at 29.4.
With the second-best running offense, averaging 304.4 rushing yards per game, we can see why they’re doing well. The question now becomes whether or not they’ll be able to do this against Navy.
Navy Midshipmen vs. Army Black Knights Betting Pick
The Army Black Knights are definitely a high-scoring team which is why we’ll take the over. They have a great running offense that they’ll likely look to utilize here.
However, they’re averaging just 81.1 passing yards per game this season. Knowing that, Navy can tailor their defense to stop Tyhier Taylor and the Black Knights.
The Midshipmen desperately need to win this game. The reason why we’re going to take them is because of their recent win over UCF.
UCF is a good team and the Midshipmen found a way to win that one. Expect a back-and-forth game with Navy pulling it out in the end.
