MLB Spring Training Picks

One of the few familiar faces on the Washington Nationals’ roster from their 2019 championship run is starting pitcher Stephen Strasburg. However, the former WS MVP has been limited to just 26 2/3 innings over the last two seasons as he attempts to come back from thoracic outlet syndrome surgery.

Nats’ manager Davey Martinez indicated yesterday the timeline on Strasburg’s return could still be a ways off with the number of innings they are hoping to get out of him declining this season. While Strasburg rehabs, Washington will continue its spring schedule today with a game against the Cardinals. First pitch is 1:05 pm at Roger Dean Stadium.

That Nationals fell to 1-5 in the Grapefruit League following last night’s 10-8 loss to the Astros. The Cardinals (4-1) had the day off after suffering their first loss of the spring against the same Astros on Wednesday, 10-3.
