MLB Spring Training Picks

New York Mets fans got to see the first part of their new one-two punch yesterday as Max Scherzer made his debut against the Marlins. Part II comes today as Opening Day starter Jacob deGrom is scheduled to make his debut against Houston. First pitch is 6:10 p.m. ET at Clover Park.

While Scherzer looked impressive in his five innings of one-run ball, Miami came away with a 3-0 victory that dropped New York’s spring record to 1-2. That still looks pretty good compared to the Astros, who fell to 0-3 in the Grapefruit League following Sunday’s 3-2 loss to Washington.

Dunkel has the Mets favored in this one with a rating of 15.254 compared to the Astros’ rating of 13.497. Dunkel projects the run total to be at 6.
