MLB Spring Training Picks

Phillies manager Joe Girardi voiced concern yesterday over his team starting the regular season with 13 straight days of games. Citing the risk of injury, Girardi said the key will be getting through the stretch as healthy as possible. Philadelphia will open the regular season at home on April 8 against the Oakland A’s.

The Phillies are coming off an 82-80 campaign in 2021 and have added some pop to the lineup with the additions of Kyle Schwarber and Nick Castellanos. Girardi’s team will continue to prep for the regular season today as the Phillies face the NY Yankees in Grapefruit League action. First pitch is 1:05 pm at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Thus far in spring training, Philadelphia has gone 6-3 following yesterday’s 7-1 win over the Orioles, while New York improved to 4-6 with an 11-7 win over Detroit.
