MLB Spring Training Picks

Putting a bow on his Hall-of-Fame career, Albert Pujols signed a one-year contract last night to rejoin the St. Louis Cardinals. The deal marks a reunion for Pujols and St. Louis, where he spent the first 11 years of his career.

While he is no longer the player that won three MVPs and led the Cards to a pair of World Series titles, he will certainly be a steadying influence for a team that won 90 games last year and earned a wild card bid. St. Louis will continue its Grapefruit League schedule today against the Houston Astros. First pitch is 1:05 pm at Roger Dean Stadium.

Thus far in spring training, the Cardinals have gone 5-3 following yesterday’s 7-3 loss to the Mets, while the Astros evened their mark at 4-4 with a 4-3 win over Miami.
