Minnesota Wild at Vegas Golden Knights Betting Preview/Player Prop

01 March 2021

The Vegas Golden Knights host the Minnesota Wild on Monday night in a matchup of West Division NHL teams. First place in the West Division will be on the line, but there is still a long way to go this season.

Minnesota comes into this game having won six straight games, but they have feasted on some of the weaker teams in the league. The Wild currently sit in second place in the West Division with 24 points on the season.

Vegas has won two straight games, but there was a pause for COVID-19 thrown in the middle of that run. The Golden Knights are leading the division with 25 points, and they are expected to stay there throughout the season.

The Vegas Golden Knights are -149 in this matchup with the Minnesota Wild on Monday night.

Wild Winning With Offense

The Minnesota Wild have been on an offensive tear of late, and they will look to use the same strategy in this matchup with the Golden Knights. Minnesota is now averaging 3.17 goals per game, despite converting on just 7.9 percent on their power-play chances.

Joel Eriksson Ek leads the team with eight goals this season, and Jordan Greenway has led the way with 12 assists. Minnesota is able to score with all four lines, which has helped them go on this run.

The Wild are also holding opponents to just 2.44 goals per game, and they have gotten great play in the blue paint. Kaapo Kahkonen and Cam Talbot have both stopped 91 percent of shots faced this season.

Golden Knights Don’t Give Up Goals

The Vegas Golden Knights are giving up just 2.06 goals per game, and they have one of the best goaltending tandems in the National Hockey League. Marc-Andre Fleury has gotten the most time in net for Vegas, but Robin Lehner is one of the best in the league as well.

Mark Stone leads the Vegas team with 13 assists and 17 total points, but this is a loaded offensive team. The Golden Knights have not even hit their stride yet offensively, but they are capable of putting up 5-6 goals per game.

Vegas is able to take some chances on offense due to their solid goaltending duo, and that should allow them to speed up the Wild in this matchup.

Vegas Earns Victory Over Wild

The Minnesota Wild have been the hottest team in the National Hockey League of late, but they are running into one of the top teams. Vegas has not been able to build momentum this season for a variety of reasons, but this is a solid hockey team.

Minnesota has to win games by scoring goals, but the Vegas Golden Knights just simply don’t allow that to happen. Vegas is also a strong offensive team, and they will be able to find just enough offense to win this game.

Don’t expect a ton of goals scored on Monday night, and it will likely be a one-goal difference. Vegas has the slight edge by playing at home, and the Golden Knights will pick up the victory.

Bet the Vegas Golden Knights -149 over the Minnesota Wild.

Player Prop

Minnesota rookie Kirill Kaprizov has quickly endeared himself with his new teammates. And what's not to like? The 23-year-old leads the team with 17 points through just 18 games and has been especially hot during the Wild's current 7-game winning streak.

Over that span, Kaprizov has tallied points in the last five straight, including 3 goals and 5 assists. His teammates think so highly of him, they've started to call him "Dollar Bill Kirill." In just his first year in the league, Kaprizov has already become one of the most dynamic players in the league.

In the opener of a big mini series with the Golden Knights tonight, look for the Wild to continue to turn to Kaprizov for some offensive spark. Invest in"Dollar Bill Kirill" and take the Over 0.5 Points (+100).
