02 January 2022

Sunday, January 02nd Minnesota Vikings @ Green Bay Packers

The Sunday Night Football matchup in Week 17 will feature a pair of NFC North rivals set to take the field in Green Bay. It will be the Packers hosting the Minnesota Vikings, and there is plenty at stake for each team in this one.

Minnesota comes into Week 17 with a record of 7-8, and they are still in the playoff race in the NFC. The Vikings are dealing with plenty of adversity in this matchup, and it will take an upset win to give themselves a chance to reach the postseason.

Green Bay is leading the NFC with a record of 12-3, and the Packers have also won four straight games. The Packers are trying to wrap up the top seed in the conference to give them home-field throughout the postseason.

The Green Bay Packers are 6.5-point betting favorites over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday Night in this NFC North showdown.

Mannion Making Start For Minnesota

The Vikings will be without quarterback Kirk Cousins on Sunday, putting the pressure on Sean Mannion under center. This is a major blow for a Vikings team that doesn’t always score the ball well on the offensive end.

Running back Dalvin Cook has racked up 1,067 yards this season, and he will be featured in this one. Wide receiver Justin Jefferson has 1,451 yards and nine touchdowns, and he will need to create some space in the secondary.

The Minnesota defense is going to be tested as well, and that unit is giving up nearly 25 points per game. The Vikings have to find a way to get pressure on Aaron Rodgers, but that isn’t always easy.

Packers Cruising on Offense

Aaron Rodgers has the Green Bay Packers scoring 25.5 points per game, and the reigning MVP has made it look easy at times. Rodgers has thrown 33 touchdowns this season while only tossing three interceptions.

Davante Adams has been the top target again, hauling in 106 receptions for over 1,300 yards. Even though the weather is expected to be cold on Sunday night, Green Bay will attack Minnesota through the air.

The Green Bay defense still has some weak sports, but they are giving up just 21.6 points per game. That unit is catching a big break without Cousins in the game, and it could lead to a low total allowed.

Packers Pound the Vikings

The Vikings come into this game with plenty of desperation, but they are also facing the best team in the NFL. Minnesota just doesn’t have the offense to keep up, and their defense is not going to be able to slow down Rodgers and company.

This game could have been close if Cousins was suiting up for the Vikings, but his absence creates a major issue for Minnesota. Minnesota doesn’t have the type of defense that can completely take over this matchup, and it could get out of hand in a hurry.

This rivalry has delivered some surprising results in the past, but that won’t be the case this season. Bet the Green Bay Packers -6.5 as the home team comes away with a double-digit win to move to 13-3 on the year.
