Milwaukee Bucks at Miami Heat Betting Preview/Player Prop
21 October 2021
Two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference are set to meet up on Thursday night for some NBA action when the Miami Heat host the Milwaukee Bucks. The NBA has put together a terrific schedule of games for the opening week, and this should be another of them.
Milwaukee is the defending NBA champions, and they come into this game with a 1-0 record on the year. The Bucks blew out the mighty Brooklyn Nets on opening night, and they have made it clear that they intend to repeat.
Miami was in the NBA Finals just two seasons ago, and the Heat are looking for another deep postseason run in 2021-22. This is the first game for the Heat, and they will be unveiling a new-look roster in this matchup.
The Milwaukee Bucks are 2.5-point favorites over the Miami Heat on Thursday night.
Bucks Don’t Stop Scoring
The Milwaukee Bucks were the highest-scoring team in the NBA a season ago, and they are going to be tough to stop this season as well. The Bucks poured in 127 points in the season-opening win, but they are playing a better defensive team in this game.
Giannis Antetokounmpo continues to show that he is one of the best players in the NBA, and most teams just simply don’t have an answer for him. Antetokounmpo poured in 32 points on Tuesday night and will look to carry his team yet again.
The Bucks do have some problems on defense at times, but they were locked in when they got past the Bucks. Milwaukee will need a similar effort on Thursday night to slip past the Heat.
Heat Must Get Stops
The Miami Heat should be a good offensive team as well, but they aren’t as explosive as the Milwaukee Bucks. This game is all going to come down to defense for Miami, and finding someone that can match up with Antetokounmpo is the first step.
Jimmy Butler is the clear star in Miami, but the franchise has worked hard to put some talent around him. Miami had a disappointing end to the 2020-21 season, but this team should be a contender this year.
Kyle Lowry will now be running the offense for Miami, and he has plenty of playoff experience. Miami would love to make a statement on Thursday night by defeating the Milwaukee Bucks.
Bucks Blow Out Heat
The Miami Heat are going to have to shake off some rust on Thursday night, and that’s not going to work out well against the Milwaukee Bucks. Miami will try to win this game on the defensive end, but they don’t have enough offense to keep up.
Milwaukee won the NBA championship a season ago for a reason, and they kept nearly the same roster intact. The Bucks were impressive on Tuesday night, and they are going to be sharp again in this matchup.
Bet the Milwaukee Bucks -2.5 as they blow this game wide open and cruise to another win.
Giannis Antetokounmpo (-130) Over 18.5 Rebounds + Assists
Fresh off of delivering Milwaukee its first NBA championship since 1971, Antetokounmpo looked ready to bring the Bucks another one after his performance in the opener.
Blowing out the Nets, 127-104, the power forward had a big night with 32 points, 14 rebounds and 7 assists. All three were above his typical output last year when he averaged 28.1 points, 11.0 rebounds and 5.9 assists on the season.
He could have trouble putting up those same kind of offensive numbers tonight against the Heat. Last year against Miami, he averaged only 16.7 points in three games while shooting just 48.7 percent from the field, well below his 56.9 percent average for the season.
But he did continue to contribute in other ways while averaging 9.3 rebounds and 6.7 assists versus the Heat. The Bucks are also dealing with some early injuries which should keep both Jrue Holiday and Brook Lopez out of tonight’s game.
While that could certainly affect Antetokounmpo’s scoring output as well, it should put more of an emphasis on the other two components of his game. We’ll take the Greek Freak (-130) to fill the void of some key absences and go over the 18.5 total of assists+rebounds tonight against the Heat.
