Two teams from the NL Central face off again tonight. The Milwaukee Brewers (60-51) are down 0-1 in their current series against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Ranking second in the division, the Brewers are hoping that they can bounce back tonight. In order to do this, they’re going to send out one of their best pitchers. The question is, will it be enough for the Brewers to win?

The St. Louis Cardinals rank first in the NL Central with a record of 62-50. As the leader of the division, the Cardinals have a target on their back. They’ve won three of their last five games, with notable wins over the New York Yankees.

If they can get another win over the Brewers here, they’re one step closer to pulling off a sweep. Let’s look at each team and make our pick.

Milwaukee Brewers: Brewers sending out Corbin Burnes

Pitching is one of the most important factors in who will win a game. With Corbin Burnes on the mound, the Brewers are sending out one of the best in the league.

Burnes has a record of 8-5 this season with an impressive 2.45 ERA. However, this isn’t the only impressive statistic Burnes has. In 136 innings, he’s thrown 175 strikeouts and allowed just 16 home runs.

Burnes being on the mound gives the Brewers a significant advantage. Their batting, however, is slightly lackluster. As a team, Milwaukee has a .240 batting average, ranking 18th in Major League Baseball.

They have 510 runs this season, ranking 13th overall, and have a .417 slugging percentage. The Cardinals, on the other hand, excel in all of those categories.

St. Louis Cardinals: Wainwright will take on Brewers batters

Today is a battle of the pitchers, with Adam Wainwright taking the mound for the Cardinals. Wainwright has an ERA of 3.42 with a record of 8-8 this season.

Through 134.1 innings, Wainwright has allowed 129 hits and 13 home runs with 108 strikeouts. Although his strikeout total isn’t nearly the same amount as Burnes, he’s a capable pitcher.

The good news for the Cardinals is they can rely on their batters as well. This season, the Cardinals have a batting average of .254, ranking sixth overall.

They also rank sixth in on-base percentage (.325) and eighth in slugging percentage (.417). This team has a strong batting group, led by Paul Goldschmidt, who has a batting average of .331.

Milwaukee Brewers at St.Louis Cardinals Betting Pick

Last night’s game ended in a 3-1 loss for the Milwaukee Brewers. It seemed as if they couldn’t get their bats going against the Cardinals.

As always, this can be accredited to great pitching, which the Cardinals will have again tonight. Although Burnes poses a threat for St. Louis, the Cardinals have a strong enough lineup to battle through.

Wainwright, the pitcher for the Cardinals, should do well against the Brewers lineup. Last night was an indication of how inconsistent their batting group can be.

Because of this, we’re going to take the St. Louis Cardinals at home +112. It also helps that the Cardinals have a 36-20 record at home this season.
