LSU Tigers at Arkansas Razorbacks Betting Preview/Prop Pick

02 March 2022

This is the final week of the college basketball regular season, and there are still some big games that need to be played. The Arkansas Razorbacks host the LSU Tigers in one such game on Wednesday night, and this should be a battle.

LSU was supposed to be a top team in the SEC this season, but injuries have really affected the Tigers. The Tigers still come into this game with an overall record of 20-9, and they will have a chance to make a run in March.

Arkansas has won four straight games, and they are starting to look like a national title contender yet again. The Razorbacks are up to number 14 in the latest polls, and they are 23-6 overall on the year.

The Arkansas Razorbacks are 5.5-point home betting favorites over the LSU Tigers on Wednesday night.

Tigers Terrific On Defense

LSU has not been as explosive on offense this season as expected, but they have been an elite defensive team. The Tigers are holding opponents to less than 62 points per game, and that has come against some great offenses in the SEC.

Forward Tari Eason leads the Tigers with 16.5 points per game, and Darius Days has averaged a team-high 7.8 rebounds per game. LSU has not shot the ball as well as expected, and that will make winning on the road in this one difficult.

LSU does average nearly 12 steals per game, and that could allow them to get some critical stops against an Arkansas team that plays fast.

Razorbacks Running Over Opponents

Arkansas has been a great offensive team all season long, but they have really taken off in recent weeks. The Razorbacks are scoring over 77 points per game this season, and they could go off for at least 85 points on any given night.

JD Notae is leading the team with 19.1 points per game, and he can be a tough player to stop when he gets things rolling. Arkansas is shooting better than 44 percent from the floor, and the Razorbacks are going to shoot plenty of shots from deep.

Defense has been an issue for Arkansas at times, as they are allowing nearly 68 points per game. The Razorbacks want to run, but they have to get some stops at some point as well.

Tigers Cover, Razorbacks Roll On

Both of these teams could go off and score 80 points in this game, but that strategy won’t work out well for the Tigers. LSU would have been able to score right along with Arkansas if they didn’t have injuries, but they just don’t have the weapons to keep up.

Arkansas has been on a remarkable run of late, and they look like a team ready to make a big run in the NCAA Tournament. The Razorbacks are going to have some trouble with LSU in this game, but that offense will ultimately deliver another win.

Take the 5.5 points and bet on the LSU Tigers, but it will be the Arkansas Razorbacks that pick up the win in this game.

Prop Pick

First Half Total (-115) UNDER 67.0 Points

LSU is averaging 33.9 points per game on offense in the first half, which ranks No. 118 in the nation. That average drops to 30.2 points on the road. Arkansas is averaging 36.1 points per game on offense in the first half, which ranks No. 39 in the nation. That average has dropped to 31.7 points over the last three games.

With Dunkel predicting halftime total of 63 points tonight, take the Tigers and Razorbacks (-115) to finish UNDER their Vegas halftime total of 67.0 points.
