Los Angeles Rams at Seattle Seahawks Betting Preview
07 October 2021
Week 5 of the NFL season kicks off with a huge matchup in the NFC West Division as the Seattle Seahawks host the Los Angeles Rams. This division is completely up for grabs this season, and every divisional matchup will be extremely important.
Los Angeles comes into this game with a record of 3-1, but they are licking their wounds a bit after a loss to the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4. The Rams have had plenty of success against Seattle in the past, including winning on the road.
Seattle has had an up and down season up to this point, and the Seahawks have to find a way to protect the home field. The Seahawks picked up a win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 4, and they are now looking for a second win in a row.
The Los Angeles Rams are slim two-point favorites over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football.
Stafford Delivering For Rams
The Los Angeles Rams went out and got quarterback Matthew Stafford in the offseason, and the veteran quarterback is delivering for his team. Stafford has thrown for 1,222 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, and he puts a ton of pressure on opposing defenses.
The Rams are still looking to run the football more effectively as they have averaged just 93 rushing yards per game up to this point. Darrell Henderson Jr. is expected to suit up on Thursday night, and his presence should allow that rushing attack to get going.
Los Angeles has a defense that can get after opposing quarterbacks, but that unit has also given up nearly 25 points per game. Finding a way to slow down Russell Wilson will be a big key on Thursday night.
Wilson Needs Some Help
Russell Wilson continues to put up MVP-type numbers for the Seattle Seahawks offense, but he continues to do most of the work on his own. Wilson has thrown for 1,044 yards and nine touchdowns this season, but the Seahawks continue to look for more balance on that side of the ball.
Running back Chris Carson has gotten off to a decent start to the year, rushing for 232 yards and three touchdowns. Seattle is going to be facing a team with a strong defensive line, but it’s imperative for the Seahawks to find a way to break through.
Seattle is allowing over 310 passing yards per game, and that could be a major issue against a team that loves to throw the football.
Rams Roll to Road Win
Each team is going to be tested on defense in this game, and the team that gets better play from its secondary will likely be the winner. Seattle has been able to run the football effectively this season, but it’s going to take some deep shots to win this matchup.
Los Angeles was humbled by the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4, and that should have them refocused and ready to go in this game. Playing the Seahawks in Seattle is never an easy task, but the Rams seem to have their number of late.
Look for this to be a tight game throughout, but a late touchdown from the Rams will be the difference. Bet the Los Angeles Rams -2.0 over the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night.
