Los Angeles Kings at St. Louis Blues Betting Preview/Player Prop

25 October 2021

The Los Angeles Kings are still in St. Louis on Monday night to face the Blues for a second straight game. It was the Blues that came away with a 7-3 win in the first meeting of the season in a game that was lopsided in many ways.

Los Angeles comes into this game with an overall record of 1-3-1, and things have not come easy for the Kings. This team used to be a consistent threat to win the Stanley Cup, but the franchise continues to go through a rebuilding phase.

St. Louis Blues are a perfect 4-0 on the young season, and they look like a team that is capable of winning a title. The Blues began the year by winning three straight games on the road, but they are always tough on home ice.

The St. Louis Blues are the betting favorites at -180 for this NHL matchup on Monday night.

Kings Struggling on Special Teams

The Los Angeles Kings have struggled in a number of key areas so far this season, but they have been especially bad on special teams. Los Angeles has converted on just 22 percent of their power-play chances while allowing a goal over 50 percent of the time on the penalty kill.

Anze Kopitar has been the best offensive player for the Kings this season, and he has also been one of the best in the league. Kopitar leads the team with six goals and nine points, and he will have the full attention of the Blues.

Los Angeles has to find a way to slow down St. Louis if they want to snap this losing streak. The Kings have two capable goaltenders, but neither of them have played well this season.

St. Louis Scoring Some Goals

The St. Louis Blues come into Monday night scoring 5.5 goals per game, and this team has been cruising on the offensive end of the ice. This is a team that is loaded with offensive talent, and few teams have been able to slow them down.

Jordan Kyrou leads the Blues with six assists and eight total points this season, while David Perron has a team-high five goals. St. Louis can’t keep up this pace all season long, but it has been an impressive start.

Jordan Binnington has been impressive in net for the Blues this season, posting a perfect 4-0 record. The Blues don’t need great goaltending since they are putting up goals at a historic pace.

Blues Blow Out Kings

Los Angeles will be looking to get some revenge on St. Louis after an embarrassing loss on Saturday night, but not much will change in this game. There is a big gap in overall talent between these two teams, and it’s hard to see the Kings finding a way to keep this game close.

St. Louis has been an explosive offensive team all season long, and they won’t have much trouble scoring goals in this game. The Kings are going to find it hard to get much offense going, and this game will get out of hand in a hurry.

Bet the St. Louis Blues -2.5 as they pick up a win at home by at least three goals over the Los Angeles Kings.

Player Prop

David Perron (+160) To Score A Goal

The Blues 4-0-0 start for just the third time in franchise history can be attributed to a lot of stellar play in the lineup, but perhaps none more so than the contributions from Perron.

The 33-year-old left wing has five goals over the last two games and is coming off his sixth career hat trick against the Kings on Saturday.

it's not the first time he's lit the lamp against the Los Angeles defense. Last year in eight games versus the Kings, he took 23 shots (third most against an opponent) and scored four times (tied for the most against an opponent).

With the Blues off to a hot start, we’ll continue to ride a hot Perron and take the LW (+160) to victimize the Kings again tonight with another goal.
