Los Angeles Kings at Edmonton Oilers Betting Preview

16 November 2022 By Cole Paganelli

The 2022-23 NHL season is really starting to heat up, and there are some big games on the schedule every single night. That will be the case in Edmonton on Wednesday night as the Oilers are set to host the Los Angeles Kings.

Los Angeles comes into this game with 21 points on the year, and they just had a long winning streak snapped in their most recent game. The Kings are currently in second place in the Pacific Division, but they will have to keep winning some games.

Edmonton was supposed to be one of the best teams in the NHL this season, but they have gone just 9-7 to begin the year. The Oilers have won two of their last three games, and they could be starting to turn things around.

The Edmonton Oilers are the moneyline betting favorites at -150 over the Los Angeles Kings in this NHL matchup on Wednesday night.

Quick Leading the Kings

Veteran goaltender Jonathan Quick comes into this game with a 6-5-1 record for the Kings, and he has actually stolen some games that the team should have lost. Los Angeles is giving up 3.50 goals per game, and they need better support from the defense.

Los Angeles is not a great offensive team, but they are averaging 3.33 goals per game this season. Kevin Fiala leads the team with 18 points and 12 assists, and he is having a great start to the season.

The Kings can't afford to play at a fast pace in this game, and they will have to control the puck.

Oilers Can Be Explosive

The Edmonton Oilers come into this game scoring 3.70 goals per game, but most of that is done by just two players. Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl are having big years yet again, and they also help the Oilers score on the power play over 32 percent of the time.

McDavid comes into this game with 15 goals and 32 points on the year. Draisaitl does a great job of setting up his teammates, as he has dished out 19 assists on the year.

Edmonton is allowing 3.63 goals per game, and they will have to be much better on the defensive end of the ice as the season moves along.

Kings Complete the Upset

These two teams play a very different styles of hockey this season, but both teams have been able to rack up the wins. Los Angeles is going to try to do everything it can to slow down the pace in this one, and they have the goaltender to get that done.

Edmonton just hasn't been able to get enough help for the two stars, and that is going to hurt their chances in this game as well. This will be a tough battle for a full 60 minutes, but it will be the toughness of the Kings that are able to take control of this matchup.

Take the Los Angeles Kings moneyline over the Edmonton Oilers as they pick up an impressive road win in this matchup.
