Dunkel Ratings: LA Dodgers 18.054; San Francisco 15.110

Dunkel Pick: LA Dodgers (-181); Over

NL West Division rivals wrap up a weekend series on Sunday Night Baseball when the San Francisco Giants host the Los Angeles Dodgers. Los Angeles has won each of the first two games of this series, and they have done so in a convincing fashion.

With the win on Saturday night, the Dodgers became the first team in baseball to 100 wins on the year. Los Angeles has already wrapped up a playoff spot, but this team wants to continue building momentum towards the postseason.

It’s been a disappointing year for the San Francisco Giants as they are now just 69-76 on the year. The Giants entered 2022 with a ton of optimism, but things fell apart rather quickly for this team, and they were unable to recover.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the moneyline betting favorites for this game, with odds set at -179 over the San Francisco Giants.

Dodgers Destroying the Baseball

There are very few weaknesses with this Los Angeles Dodgers team, but their biggest strength is on offense. Los Angeles comes into this game with a team batting average of .260, and they have also belted 197 home runs on the year.

Mookie Betts and Trea Turner continue to set the tone for the offense, but there are no weaknesses in this lineup. Betts leads the team with 34 home runs, and it’s Turner that has a team-high 97 RBIs.

Andrew Heaney is set to start in this game, and he is 3-2 with a 2.84 ERA on the year. As long as Heaney is solid, then his offense should be able to do the rest.

Giants Need More Offense

The San Francisco Giants come into the game on Sunday night with a team batting average of just .230, and that won’t get things done. San Francisco has belted 161 home runs this season, but they don’t always have a ton of consistency.

Joc Pederson leads the team with 22 home runs, but most of that damage was done in the early part of the season. If the Giants are going to win the series finale, then it’s going to have to be done with starting pitching.

Alex Cobb is set to start on Sunday night, and he is 6-6 with a 3.48 ERA on the year. Cobb has the talent to shut down the Dodgers, but he will have to be on top of his game.

Dodgers Complete Sweep on Sunday Night

At this point, it looks like nothing can slow down the mighty Dodgers, and that offense just continues to do some serious damage at the plate. San Francisco has not been scoring runs this weekend, and it’s going to be hard for them to find a way to keep this game close.

The starting pitching matchup in this game does look to be pretty even, but the Dodgers simply have too big of an advantage at the plate. Look for the Dodgers to come out swinging the bats well again in this one, and they will find a way to break things wide open on Sunday night.

Bet the Los Angeles Dodgers -2.5 as they beat the Giants by three runs to complete the sweep of their NL West Division rivals.

Prop Picks

LA Dodgers (-105) OVER 4.5 Runs

LA is averaging 5.42 runs per 9 innings on offense, which ranks No. 1 in MLB. That average remains relatively steady at 5.35 runs per 9 innings on the road. Scores have gone OVER in six of the Dodgers’ last 10 games against the Giants.

With Dunkel predicting an LA win by the score of 6-3, take the Dodgers (-105) to finish OVER their Vegas team total of 4.5 runs against San Francisco.
