Los Angeles Dodgers at San Diego Padres Betting Preview
24 August 2021

Los Angeles comes into this series with an overall record of 78-47, and they have won four of their last five games. The Dodgers are still trying to track down the San Francisco Giants and win the NL West Division again.
San Diego has gone just 1-4 in their last five games, and this has been a rough stretch for a very talented team. The Padres no longer hold on to an NL Wild Card spot, but they have enough time left in the season to make a move.
The Los Angeles Dodgers are the slight betting favorites in this NL West matchup with the San Diego Padres.
Dodgers Have Some Pitching
The Los Angeles Dodgers currently have a team ERA of just 3.07 on the year, and that starting rotation is extremely tough. Even though the Dodgers are dealing with some injuries, they won’t be giving up many runs in this series.
Julio Urias is set to start on Tuesday night, and he has gone 13-3 with a 3.29 earned run average this season. Urias is facing a talented lineup, but he is talented enough to pitch well.
Max Muncy has been big at the plate this season for the Dodgers as he is leading the team with 28 home runs and 76 RBIs. Los Angeles could still become a better offense, but they don’t have to score a ton on most nights.
Padres Have to Score
The San Diego Padres are going to have to start scoring more runs if they are going to get back in a playoff position. San Diego does have the ability to put up runs in a hurry, but they are also extremely streaky when it comes to offense.
Fernando Tatis Jr. leads the team with 34 home runs and a .289 batting average, and he will need to come up big in this series. The Padres have some big names in that lineup, but it’s time to produce.
San Diego has not yet named a starting pitcher for Tuesday night, and that starting rotation has let the team down. The Padres will need to get a solid outing from their starter and hope that the offense can do the rest.
Padres Pick Up Win
San Diego has not been playing good baseball of late, but this team is still good enough to compete with all of the top teams in the National League. Playing this series at home will give them a big advantage, and the Padres are going to take advantage of this, at least in the series opener.
Los Angles seems to have the edge in the pitching matchup, but that Padres offense is going to show up. Look for this to be a pretty entertaining game that features plenty of offense by both teams.
Bet the San Diego Padres money line as they find a way to beat their NL West rivals and pick up an impressive win on Tuesday night.
