The next AFC West matchup will be between the Los Angeles Chargers and Las Vegas Raiders.
The Chargers, with a record of 6-5, could use a big win here. They rank second in the division, and a win could do wonders for them. They’re coming off a 25-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals and are looking to add another.
The Las Vegas Raiders have a record of 4-7 this season and are 2-2 at home. They’ve lost three of their last five games but have won their last two. After two overtime wins, they’ll face a division rival this weekend.
Can they get the win? Or are the Los Angeles Chargers the better team to pick on the road this weekend?
Los Angeles Chargers: Chargers need to start fast
The Los Angeles Chargers have one of the best offenses in the NFL. However, even scoring 22.9 points per game hasn’t resulted in many wins for the team.
They rank 13th in the NFL in points per game with this average, most of which come through the air. They average 262.2 passing yards per game, ranking sixth in the NFL.
A problem they’ve had lately is with their defense, which ranks 29th overall. This season, they’re giving up an average of 25.6 points per game.
This is what’s hurt their record this season and why they’re not further along. If they can get their defense solidified, they’ll do much better this weekend. The good news is the Raiders have struggled on defense too.
Las Vegas Raiders: Raiders' defense needs get going early
The Las Vegas Raiders have a defense that has really hurt them in recent games. As we mentioned, the Chargers rank 29th in the NFL in points per game.
The Raiders, however, rank 26th in the NFL, averaging 25.1 points per game. In recent weeks, the Raiders have lost three games because of their poor defense.
Their last two games have resulted in wins, both of which were in overtime. Their most recent win was a 40-34 win over the Seattle Seahawks.
Their offense has averaged 24.1 points per game this season, ranking 10th in the NFL. The one thing we know is this game will be pretty tough for both teams. This is especially true of the Las Vegas Raiders.

The Las Vegas Raiders are only two-point favorites heading into this game. The small spread is the reason why we’d rather take the Los Angeles Chargers tonight. The Raiders' defense is another big problem and why we’d rather take the Chargers.
Since the spread is so small, the Los Angeles Chargers are a better pick. The last time they faced the Raiders, they won 24-19, so it’s a clearer pick. Even though it has been a tough few weeks, they’re the better bet in this game.
