Los Angeles Chargers at Indianapolis Colts Betting Preview

26 December 2022 By Ryan Knuppel

Week 16 of the NFL season has been spread out across four days of football, and the final game will take place on Monday night. It will be the Indianapolis Colts hosting the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football, and this should be an interesting matchup.

The Los Angeles Chargers come into this game with momentum, as they have won three of their last four games. Los Angeles is hoping to get to the postseason in the AFC after getting off to a very slow start to the year.

It hasn't been a good year for the Colts, as they come into this game with an overall record of just 4-9-1. Indianapolis has lost four straight games, and they have the look of a team that has completely given up on the year.

The Los Angeles Chargers are four-point betting favorites on the road at Indianapolis on Monday Night Football.

Chargers Must Get Stops

The Los Angeles Chargers might be in a position to reach the postseason in 2022, but they are still a team with some flaws. Los Angeles is allowing over 24 points per game this season and that defense must find a way to improve.

The Chargers are allowing over 145 rushing yards per game this season, and they just let opponents go on too long of drives. Los Angeles is still scoring over 22 points per game, but they don't usually have the ball a ton.

Quarterback Justin Herbert has thrown for over 4,000 yards this season, but he has thrown nine interceptions. The Chargers are rushing for less than 84 points per game, but Herbert continues to lead this offense.

Colts Struggling to Score

The Indianapolis Colts are scoring just 17.5 points per game this season, and they have had a miserable time trying to move the football. Matt Ryan is back at the quarterback position, but he has thrown for just 14 touchdowns and 13 interceptions this season.

Running back Jonathan Taylor is out for the season with an injury, and the Colts just aren't a team that scares opposing defenses. The lack of offense has also had a big impact on the defense, as they just aren't able to get stops.

Indianapolis entered the season as a team that should have been in the playoff mix, but they have been an absolute mess on both sides of the football.

Chargers Cruise to Victory

Playing on the road hasn't been easy for the Chargers this season, but they aren't facing a very good team in this game. The Colts did get a little bit of a boost when they made a coaching change, but they are right back to being one of the worst teams in the league.

Justin Herbert and the Chargers' offense will have little trouble scoring points in this game, and they will simply run away from the Colts. Indianapolis has a defense that can keep this game interesting for a half, but it will be all Los Angeles in the final thirty minutes.

Bet the Los Angeles Chargers -4.0 over the Indianapolis Colts on Monday Night Football as they move even closer to a playoff spot.
