Las Vegas Raiders at Los Angeles Chargers Betting Preview/Player Prop

04 October 2021

Week 4 of the NFL season concludes with a huge matchup between AFC West rivals on Monday Night Football. It will be the Los Angeles Chargers hosting the Las Vegas Raiders in a battle of two teams off to great starts.

The Las Vegas Raiders have gotten off to a 3-0 start to the season, beating a pair of 2020 playoff teams along the way. Las Vegas was expected to be a playoff contender this season, but they look better than that.

Los Angeles is just 2-1 on the season, with the lone loss coming to the Dallas Cowboys at home in Week 2. The Chargers should have some momentum on Monday night after winning a game in Kansas City against the Chiefs last weekend.

The Los Angeles Chargers are four-point betting favorites over the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football.

Raiders Taking Deep Shots

The Las Vegas Raiders are averaging 401 passing yards per game, and they continue to put a ton of pressure on opposing secondaries. Las Vegas is only rushing for 91 yards per game, but they have been nearly impossible to stop up to this point.

Quarterback Derek Carr is off to another fast start this season, throwing for 1,203 yards and six touchdowns through the first three games. Henry Ruggs III has 11 catches for 237 yards, but there are plenty of weapons on this squad.

An injury to Josh Jacobs has hurt the rushing attack, and that could be a problem as the season moves along. Las Vegas will need some balance on Monday night, but it will be the passing attack that does most of the damage.

Chargers Can’t Stop the Run

The Los Angeles Chargers are giving up 170 rushing yards per game this season, and that is the biggest reason that they aren’t 3-0. The rush defense might be catching a major break on Monday night, but that unit will still need to play better.

Los Angeles is another team that can get it done in the passing game, racking up 318 yards per game this season. Justin Herbert has thrown for 956 yards and six touchdowns this season, and he won’t be afraid to push the ball down the field.

Running the football has also been a problem for Los Angeles this season as they average just 87 rushing yards per game. Look for the Chargers to try and establish the run to give that defense a break in this one.

Raiders Keep on Rolling

This is going to be a high-scoring affair as each quarterback is going to be making some big plays with his arm. Defenses are going to come into play at some point, but this game could come down to which team has the ball last in the fourth quarter.

Las Vegas has a pair of overtime wins already this season, and they know how to make clutch plays late in games. The Chargers still have some growing up to do, and they just won’t be able to hold off their rivals at the end of this game.

Bet the Las Vegas Raiders moneyline as Jon Gruden’s squad defeats the Los Angeles Chargers to win their fourth straight game.

Player Prop

Derek Carr (-180) Over 1.5 Passing TDs

The Raiders 3-0 start is in no small part due to the strong play of QB Derek Carr. The 30-year-old out of Fresno State has thrown for 1,203 yards and 6 TDs while being intercepted only twice for a rating of 101.4. He’s on pace to throw for over 6,400 yards and 32 TDs – the most yards and tied for the most TDs in his 8-year career.

Carr also played his best game on the road this year as he threw for 382 yards and 2 TDs against zero picks in the Raiders’ Week 2 win at Pittsburgh. And he’s had solid stats in his career versus the Chargers. While his record is only 7-7, he’s thrown for 3,129 yards and 18 TDs against only 8 INTs in his 14 games against LA for a rating of 93.4.

We’ll take Carr (-180) to continue his roll tonight and throw for over 1.5 TDs.
