Las Vegas Raiders at Dallas Cowboys Betting Preview
24 November 2021
— Thursday, November 25th Las Vegas Raiders @ Dallas Cowboys
It has been three weeks since the Raiders won a game, and it's ruining their playoff hopes. Things have gone from bad to worse now that Jon Gruden is gone. It also seems that the loss of Henry Ruggs is weighing heavily on the team as well.
Now, they head into Week 12 and face one of the best teams that the NFC has to offer. So, how will the Raiders fare against Dallas?
The Dallas Cowboys are coming off of a loss of their own to the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs' defense had a rare showing of dominance and prevented the Cowboys from scoring a single touchdown.
In hopes of putting last week behind them, they host the Raiders on Thanksgiving Day. If their offense suffers like they did last week, they won't have much to be thankful for.
Las Vegas Raiders: Can Derek Carr & Co. get the offense going?
The fact is, without an electric offense, the Raiders will have a hard time beating the Cowboys. Over the last three weeks, the Raiders have been unable to score over 20 points.
One of these games was against the New York Giants, a team with a terrible defense. Step number one for the Raiders should be putting up points. It doesn't matter how, but it definitely needs to happen.
On the opposite side of the ball, we'd like to see their secondary tighten up. Last week, the Raiders gave up 32 points at home; they can't afford a bad showing on Thursday.
The good news for them is they likely won't have to worry about CeeDee Lamb and Amari Cooper. With the two best receivers potentially out, they can focus on putting pressure on Prescott.
Dallas Cowboys: Keys to victory for the Cowboys on Thursday
For the Dallas Cowboys, the plan should be quite simple, give the ball to Ezekiel Elliott. If Elliott doesn't play due to his minor knee injury, then hand the ball to Tony Pollard. Pollard is a great replacement for Elliott and can handle the workload.
From there, once the running game is established, Dak Prescott can do what he does best. He can begin to stretch the defense.
Just because he might be missing Cooper and Lamb doesn't mean he doesn't have targets. Michael Gallup and Cedrick Wilson are both great options. The thing Prescott needs to remember is that he doesn't have to go big every time.
Just working the ball around to start the game off should be enough to open it later on. Now let's make our pick for the winner.
Our Pick for Las Vegas Raiders at Dallas Cowboys on Thursday
The Cowboys come in as -7-point favorites in this game on Thanksgiving. Dallas has also been one of the best teams against the spread this season (8-2).
The Raiders, on the other hand, haven't been so good against the spread (4-6). This makes it a much easier choice for us to make.
On Thursday, we'll take the Dallas Cowboys, sure they're dealing with injuries, but they're back at home. This season, the Cowboys are nearly unbeatable at home, going 4-1 in five home games. They also have a 4-1 ATS record at home, giving us even more confidence.
