Kansas Jayhawks at Coastal Carolina Chanticleers Betting Preview

Week 2 of the college football season will begin on Friday this weekend, and there is an interesting matchup taking place in Conway, South Carolina. The Coastal Carolina Chanticleers are set to host the Kansas Jayhawks to begin the Week 2 action.

Kansas was able to pick up a win over South Dakota in Week 1, but it wasn’t a very convincing victory. The Jayhawks were able to snap a long losing streak dating back to 2020 and will now be looking to build up some momentum.

Coastal Carolina picked up a 52-14 win over the Citadel in Week 1, and this team is loaded with talent. The Chanticleers are in the Top 25, and they could keep moving up as the year moves along.

Defense Delivers For Kansas 

The Kansas defense was terrific in Week 1, allowing just 263 yards of total offense against South Dakota. That stat is a bit misleading as South Dakota is an FCS team, and it’s not even one of the top teams at that level.

Kansas quarterback Jason Bean threw for 163 yards in Week 1 and also picked up 54 yards on the ground. Bean is a player that can be tough to stop, but he will have the full attention of Coastal Carolina on Friday night.

The Jayhawks don’t have the talent to keep up for four quarters, but they can keep this game close by controlling the football.

McCall Leading Coastal Charge

Coastal Carolina has a star quarterback in Grayson McCall, and he is going to be a major problem for the Kansas defense. McCall threw for just 266 yards in Week 1, but the Chanticleers took control of that game on the ground.

Coastal Carolina was able to rack up 614 yards of total offense in the season opener, and they are going to be explosive again on Friday night. The Chanticleers want to play fast, and they won’t waste much time when they have the ball.

On defense, the Chanticleers allowed just 14 passing yards in Week 1, and they are loaded with talent on that side of the football.

Kansas Covers, Coastal Carolina Wins

Kansas does come into this game with some momentum after picking up a win in Week 1, but they are now facing much tougher opponents. The Jayhawks will also be on the road for the first time, and they are playing in a tough environment. 

Coastal Carolina just knows how to win football games, and they also have an offense that can put up points in a hurry. The Chanticleers are going to be tough to stop in this one, and there won’t be much pressure on the home team in the second half. 

Coastal Carolina is going to win this game, but trying to cover a 25.5-point spread is not easy for any team. The best bet is to take the points and bet on Kansas +25.5 on Friday night as they are able to keep this spread right around three touchdowns.
