Kansas City Chiefs at New Orleans Saints Betting Preview

20 December 2020

Two of the top teams in the National Football League are set to meet up in New Orleans on Sunday in what could be a Super Bowl preview. The 12-1 Kansas City Chiefs will visit the 10-3 New Orleans Saints, and this game could be a high-scoring affair.

The Chiefs have now won eight straight games as they have vaulted to the top of the AFC. Kansas City is the reigning Super Bowl champion, and the Chiefs are a strong pick to repeat this season.

New Orleans had its nine-game winning streak snapped in a Week 14 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Saints entered the weekend tied for first in the NFC with the Green Bay Packers, and that top seed is on the line.

The Kansas City Chiefs are 4.5-point favorites over the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Chiefs Continue to Score

The Chiefs are averaging 31.0 points per game, which makes them the second-highest scoring team in the NFL. Kansas City has done most of its damage through the air, and looking for a running attack continues to be a goal for the Chiefs.

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes has thrown for 4,208 yards and 33 touchdowns this season, and he could be in line to win the second MVP Award of his career. Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill have combined for more than 1,400 receiving yards this season, and they will be tough on the New Orleans defense.

On defense, the Chiefs have given up just 21.6 points per game, and that unit continues to be underrated. Look for Kansas City to come after Drew Brees in this game.

Brees Back, Thomas Out

The New Orleans Saints will have Brees back in the lineup on Sunday, but wide receiver Michael Thomas has been placed on injured reserve. New Orleans is averaging just 232 passing yards per game, and that will need to improve in this matchup.

Running back Alvin Kamara leads the team with 723 rushing yards and 699 receiving yards, and he will be featured a ton in this game. If the Saints are going to win on Sunday, Kamara will need to have a monster game.

The Saints are giving up less than 21 points per game, and that defense could determine the outcome in this game. New Orleans will blitz Mahomes all afternoon in hopes of forcing some turnovers.

Saints Pull Off Upset

The return of Brees should provide a huge boost for the New Orleans Saints, and this is going to be an offensive shootout. New Orleans has been winning games without its star quarterback, and it is one of the top Super Bowl contenders with him.

Kansas City can really score, but the Chiefs have been giving up some points of late. The Chiefs won’t be able to rely on their offense to dominate this game as the Saints will find ways to get some stops.

Look for New Orleans to come up with the upset in this game as they prove that they are a real threat to win the Super Bowl. Take the 4.5 points or bet the moneyline as the New Orleans Saints beat the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon.
