There are some big rivalry games in the NFL in Week 14, including an interesting matchup in the AFC West Division. The Denver Broncos host the Kansas City Chiefs, and these teams are heading in completely opposite directions.
Kansas City did suffer a loss in Week 13 to the Cincinnati Bengals, but that snapped a long winning streak. The Chiefs are still 9-3 on the year, and they are in position to claim the top overall seed in the AFC this season.
Denver has dropped four straight games, and they are having one of the most disappointing seasons in recent memory. The Broncos are now just 3-9 on the year, and that comes after they went big in the offseason in an attempt to make a deep playoff run.
The Kansas City Chiefs are massive nine-point betting favorites over the Denver Broncos in this AFC West showdown on Sunday afternoon.
Chiefs Have to Defend
The Kansas City Chiefs might be 9-3 on the season, but they are still giving up right around 23 points per game. Kansas City has actually been solid against the run, but they are allowing 258 passing yards per game.
The reason that the Chiefs continue to pile up the wins is the fact that Patrick Mahomes and that passing attack just continue to shine. Kansas City is scoring 29 points per game, and they have thrown for over 317 yards per game.
Mahomes has thrown 30 touchdown passes this season, and Travis Kelce has 968 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns. The Chiefs are able to score points in a hurry, and that will be a big key in this game.
Broncos Just Can’t Score
The Denver Broncos traded for quarterback Russell Wilson in the offseason, and he was supposed to fix the offensive problems. Wilson has thrown just eight touchdowns on the year, and Denver can’t move the ball at all.
The Broncos are scoring less than 14 points per game this season and have scored 16 or less in four straight games. Denver doesn’t seem to have a ton of hope on offense, and they won’t be able to keep up in this one.
This team is still holding opponents to just 17 points per game, but they have also traded away some defensive talent this season.
Chiefs Crush the Broncos
This is normally a terrific rivalry game in the NFL, but it’s hard to see this matchup being that competitive on Sunday. Denver has had a miserable season, and the Chiefs once again look like one of the best teams in the NFL.
It takes a great offensive effort to keep up with the Chiefs, and Denver is one of the worst offensive teams in the league. Playing at home will give the Broncos a chance to get things going in this one, but they just won’t be able to hang with their rivals for four quarters in what will be a rout.
