Now that we have reached the month of August, it is time to start thinking about some NFL football. The 2022 Hall of Fame Game is set to take place on August 4, 2022, and it will feature the Jacksonville Jaguars and Las Vegas Raiders.

Jacksonville was not a good team during the 2021 season, and they aren’t expected to be a real threat to make the playoffs in 2022. The Jaguars have brought in some more young talent, and they are looking to turn some things around.

The Las Vegas Raiders were in the postseason a year ago but suffered a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals in the First Round. Las Vegas competes in the AFC West Division, and it’s going to take another great year to be competitive.

The Las Vegas Raiders are slim two-point betting favorites over the Jacksonville Jaguars in this matchup.

Jaguars Have Young Talent

The Jacksonville Jaguars have a solid young core in quarterback Trevor Lawrence and running back Travie Etienne. Those two young stars haven’t been as successful in the NFL as they were in college, but they could make a big jump this season. Neither is expected to play in tonight's contest, however.

Jacksonville actually picked up some impressive wins a season ago, but they just weren’t able to find some consistency. The Jaguars have added some talent in the offseason, but they also have a ton of work to do.

Jacksonville are going to need to win games on defense, but that’s not usually a focus in Week 1 of the preseason.

Raiders Ready For Big Season

The Las Vegas Raiders are a much more veteran team than the Jacksonville Jaguars, and that could put them ahead to begin this offseason. Jacksonville will want to be trying out new young talent, while the Raiders have some veterans that will be looking to make the team.

Wide receiver Davante Adams is now in Las Vegas, and he could make this offense even better. Adams and quarterback Derek Carr could make a brief appearance in this game as a way to show off what the offense might look like.

Las Vegas was not a good defensive team in 2021, and that defense will need to find a way to be better this season.

Raiders Roll to Win

Jacksonville is a team that is going to be desperate to turn things around in 2022, but they also have a pretty clear gap in talent over other teams. The Jaguars will likely have some of their regular players on the field in this game, but that doesn’t provide a huge advantage.

The Raiders have made some big moves this offseason to improve their team, and they are going to be a threat to win the AFC West Division. Winning this Hall of Fame Game doesn’t have any impact on the success of the season, but it can provide some early confidence and momentum.

Bet the Las Vegas Raiders -2.0 as they kick off the preseason with a win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.
