Houston Rockets at New Orleans Pelicans Betting Preview
12 November 2022

The Houston Rockets have a 2-10 record this season with a 1-8 record on the road. At the moment, they rank 15th in the Western Conference.
Tonight, they’ll face the New Orleans Pelicans after losing four of their last five games. The good news for the Rockets is the Pelicans are struggling this season as well.
The New Orleans Pelicans come into today’s game as heavy favorites. They’re -10.5, which is a lot of points to cover for a team that hasn’t played well lately.
Over their last five games, the Pelicans are 2-3. To get a win tonight, they’ll need to be much better on offense than they were a few days ago. Let’s go over each team before making our pick for this evening.

Houston Rockets: Rockets road record is a big problem
One of the most notable problems with the Rockets is their inability to win on the road. To be fair, most of their games this season have been road games.
Out of ten games, eight of them have been on the road, and the Rockets won only one. Their first road win was on November 7 over the Orlando Magic. In that game, the Rockets put up 134 points.
As they head into this game, the Houston Rockets need to get off to a fast start. Along with starting fast on offense, they need to find a way to stop Zion Williamson.
Two players have been ruled out for this game, Jae’Sean Tate and Bruno Fernando. With a few players sidelined, the Rockets will have to play that much harder tonight.
New Orleans Pelicans: Can the Pelicans cover the spread?
We’re not necessarily concerned with the Pelicans winning this game. Our real concern comes from whether they can cover such a large spread.
This season, the Pelicans have a 5-7 record against the spread and a 6-6 record overall. When playing at home this season, the Pelicans have gone 1-3 against the spread. So, our confidence in them to cover isn’t high.
In their last six games, the Pelicans are 1-5 against the spread. What we will say in favor of the Pelicans is they’re 3-0 in their last three games against Houston.
As a team, the Pelicans are averaging 116.3 points per game. Leading the group is Zion Williamson, who averages 23.3 per game. So, can Williamson and the Pelicans cover the 10.5-point spread?
Houston Rockets vs. New Orleans Pelicans
The Houston Rockets have a pretty solid record against the spread this season. Overall, they have a 5-5-2 record against the spread and are 4-4-1 against the spread on the road. The spread is rather large in this game, which is why we’ll take the Rockets +10.5.
The Pelicans have had a lot of trouble covering spreads, but we think they’ll win the game. The problem is with a spread this large; we can’t trust their offense to cover. It’s a much better bet to take the Rockets with the points and the under.
