Green Bay Packers at New Orleans Saints Betting Preview/Player Prop
11 September 2021

It's Week 1 of the NFL season, and there are some terrific matchups throughout the day on Sunday. The New Orleans Saints "host" the Green Bay Packers on Sunday afternoon in a game that will be played in Jacksonville due to Hurricane Ida.
Green Bay was the number 1 seed in the NFC a season ago, but they are a team looking for more success in 2021. The Packers are a popular pick to win the NFC North, but this is a tough Week 1 test.
New Orleans will lose an important home game due to a hurricane, and that's going to make this matchup even tougher. The Saints were a playoff team a season ago, but they also have a ton of questions to answer ahead of the season opener.
The Green Bay Packers are 4.5-point favorites over the New Orleans Saints in this NFC showdown on Sunday afternoon.
Rodgers Back to Lead Pack
Aaron Rodgers appeared to want out of Green Bay in the offseason, and there were some doubts about his suiting up in 2021. All of that was eventually settled, and the reigning NFL MVP will be back to lead the Packers on offense this season.
The passing attack of the Packers should be terrific yet again, especially now that Randall Cobb is back with the team as well. Green Bay wants to take some big shots on offense, and they are known for hitting on them.
The defense has always been a bit of a concern for Green Bay, but not having to deal with Drew Brees should help in this one. The Packers do have the ability to get to a quarterback, and that will play a role on Sunday.
Saints Will Need Offense
If the New Orleans Saints are going to win the season opener, then they will have to find a way to put up some points. The Drew Brees era is now over in New Orleans, and it will be Jameis Winston leading the offense.
Winston is a quarterback that has always put up some impressive numbers, but he is also known for turning the football over. Taysom Hill will also see some action at quarterback, and he can pick up some yards with his legs.
Finding a way to slow down Aaron Rodgers and the Packers' offense will be an even bigger challenge for the Saints on Sunday. New Orleans does have a talented secondary, but that unit will have to play extremely well.
Packers Roll over New Orleans
Jameis Winston is a capable quarterback for the Saints, but he isn't Drew Brees and won't have the same production. The Saints have always won games with their offense, and they just don't have a defense that is capable of taking over a game.
Aaron Rodgers is going to put on a show in this game, and the Packers are going to score a ton of points. New Orleans will be able to keep this game close for a half, but Green Bay is going to blow this game open at some point.
Bet the Green Bay Packers -4.5 on Sunday afternoon as they roll to a double-digit victory over the New Orleans Saints.
Player Prop
Alvin Kamara (-155) To Score A TD
This game will feel odd to the Saints for a number of reasons. First, they haven’t been home in over two weeks after being evacuated to Texas during Hurricane Ida and now having to play a "home" game in Jacksonville. And second, they will be playing without the heart and soul of the team -- QB Drew Brees -- for the first time in eons.
Jameis Winston takes over the reins of Sean Payton’s offense after beating out Taysom Hill for the QB spot in training camp. Filling the shoes of Brees is tough enough, but also having to do it without Pro Bowl WR Michael Thomas (ankle surgery) is doubly tough.
All this should add up to a heavy reliance on Kamara for today’s opener. And why not? All the RB did last year was set career highs for total yards (1,688) and TDs (21). One of his best games of the year also came against this same Packers team as he collected 13 catches, 139 yards and 2 TDs.
With all the uncertainty surrounding the Saints, we’ll take the closest thing to a sure thing with Kamara (-155) scoring a TD against Green Bay.
