The Green Bay Packers and Kansas City Chiefs will meet up on Thursday night in an NFL Preseason Week 3 game. Both teams are Super Bowl contenders this season, but this game won't feature the biggest stars.
Green Bay went 13-4 a season ago to earn the top seed in the NFC but then failed to win a playoff game at home. The Packers are 1-1 so far in the preseason, picking up a 20-10 win in Week 2.
Kansas City is hoping to get back to the Super Bowl this season after coming up one game short a season ago. The Chiefs were also winners in Week 2 as they picked up a double-digit win over Washington.
The Green Bay Packers are three-point road favorites for this matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night.
Packers Playing Some Starters
Aaron Rodgers has not yet played in the preseason for Green Bay, and he won't be suiting it up in this game, either. Rodgers will be ready to go in the regular season, but his supporting cast will get some action in this game.
The Packers are going to have several young players on offense, and Green Bay continues to give those players some reps in the preseason. Quarterback Jordan Love is going to be on the field as well, and that will give this team a pretty big advantage.
Green Bay allowed just 10 points to the New Orleans Saints a week ago, and that defense will be a huge key to the season. The Packers are catching a break in this matchup as they won't have to deal with the biggest stars for Kansas City.
Chiefs Gearing Up For Season Opener
Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs' starting offense has appeared in each of the first two preseason games, but that won't be the case in this one. Head coach Andy Reid has made it clear that those players will be unavailable on Thursday night, and the Chiefs might struggle to score.
Kansas City simply has to find a way to be a more balanced offense in 2022. The Chiefs are going to be able to pick up yards in the air, but running the football continues to be a challenge for this team.
The defense of the Chiefs has been solid through the first two weeks of the preseason, but they are going to get a big test in this one. Several players from that unit will be trying to lock up a final roster spot.
Packers Pick Up Win
This game would be one of the best regular season matchups of the year, but the biggest stars won't be on the field on Thursday night. Kansas City is going to be playing backups at every position while the Packers still have some potential starters in the lineup.
Don't expect a ton of points in this game, as the defenses should be able to shut down the offense for each team. This will likely be a competitive game, but Green Bay is going to pick up a win to wrap up the preseason slate.
