When the 2022 NFL schedule was released, there was plenty of attention placed on the Week 8 matchup on Sunday Night Football. The Buffalo Bills are set to host the Green Bay Packers, and two preseason Super Bowl contenders will be facing off.
Green Bay is going to have some work to do if they are going to even get to the playoff this season, as it has been a struggle. The Packers have lost three straight games to fall to 3-4 on the year.
Buffalo is coming into this game with a record of 5-1, and they have lived up to the preseason hype. The Bills have rattled off three straight wins, and they have beaten some great teams along the way.
The Buffalo Bills are 10-point betting favorites over the Green Bay Packers on Sunday Night Football.
Packers Playing Bad Football
The overall record shows that the Packers are just 3-4 on the year, and the statistics make things look even worse. Green Bay is scoring just 18.3 points per game this season, and their defense is giving up 140 rushing yards per game.
Aaron Rodgers has thrown for just 1,597 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, and he can't seem to get into a rhythm with his new receivers. The Packers have a weapon in running back Aaron Jones, but he has found the end zone just one time this year.
The defense for Green Bay has allowed too many big plays against them, and they have to find a way to get pressure on Josh Allen in this game. Green Bay is capable of turning things around, but it has to start soon.
Bills Lighting it Up
The Buffalo Bills come into Week 8 scoring 29.3 points per game, and most of that damage has come through the air. Quarterback Josh Allen has thrown for 1,980 yards and 17 touchdowns, and he is also able to make some plays with his legs.
Buffalo is going to have to find a way to run the ball better this season, and it might have to happen on Sunday night. The Bills don't want to play fast and allow Rodgers to get back on the field.
The defense for the Bills continues to be a bit underrated, as that unit is holding opponents to just 13.5 points per game. If Buffalo can get pressure on Rodgers, then it could be another blowout win.
Bills Survive Scare From Rodgers, Packers
Despite the early season struggles for Rodgers and the Packers, this is a team that always seems to be dangerous. Rodgers tends to play even better when he is on the biggest stage, and he won't be afraid of the Bills' defense.
Buffalo might show a bit of rust early in this game after a long layoff, and that could allow the Green Bay Packers to keep this one close. Josh Allen and that offense are eventually going to figure some things out, though, and they aren't losing this game at home.
Take the 10 points and bet on Rodgers and the Packers to cover the spread, but the Bills will move to 6-1 on the year.
