Green Bay Packers at Arizona Cardinals Betting Preview

28 October 2021

Week 8 of the NFL season kicks off with a huge matchup in the NFC, and it could be one of the best games of the entire weekend. The 7-0 Arizona Cardinals host the 6-1 Green Bay Packers in a potential playoff preview on Thursday Night Football.

Green Bay was blown out by the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, but they have been playing great football since that time. The Packers have taken complete control in the NFC North Division and now want to move to the top of the NFC.

Arizona is winning games by an average of 16 points per game, and they have beaten some really good teams. The Cardinals are the lone unbeaten team remaining in the NFL and will be looking to stay that way.

The Arizona Cardinals are six-point favorites over the Green Bay Packers in Week 8.

Packers Will Have to Run

The Packers are likely going to be without their top three wide receivers in this game, and that's going to have a negative impact on the offense. Green Bay is averaging 254 passing yards per game but only rushing for right around 100 yards per contest.

Aaron Rodgers has 15 touchdowns to just three interceptions this season, but he is going to need some help in this one. If Green Bay is going to win then, it will have to be because running backs Aaron Jones and AJ Dillon had a big game.

The Green Bay defense has been under fire at times this season, but that unit is allowing just 21 points per game. If the Packers are going to be a legitimate title contender, then the defense will have to play well.

Cardinals Defense Has Been Dominant

The Arizona Cardinals are doing nearly everything well this season, but the play of its defense has been leading the way. Arizona is allowing just 16 points per game, and they have made life difficult on opposing quarterbacks.

Quarterback Kyler Murray has been a star as well this season, throwing for over 2,000 yards and 17 touchdowns. Murray is able to make plays with his legs, but it has been his passing that has set the tone for the Cardinals.

Arizona is going to try to speed up the tempo on Thursday night to put some pressure on the Packers' defense. If the Cardinals are able to get going, then they are difficult to stop.

Packers Pull Off Upset

The Green Bay Packers might come into this game a little shorthanded, but they still have Aaron Rodgers leading the way. Rodgers always seems to perform well in primetime, and this should be another example of Thursday.

Arizona has done little wrong so far this season, but they aren't going to be able to go through the entire season undefeated. The Cardinals will play well again on Thursday, but that's not going to be good enough.

In what could be a potential preview of the NFC Championship Game, the road team picks up a win on Thursday. Take the Green Bay Packers moneyline as they upset the Cardinals and move to the top of the NFC Conference.
