Golden State Warriors at Portland Trail Blazers Betting Preview/Prop Pick

24 February 2022

The Golden State Warriors are the No.2 team in the Western Conference. Today, they take on the Portland Trail Blazers after some much-needed rest. Before entering the All-Star break, the Warriors lost two games in a row.

Lucky for them, the losses didn’t hurt their positioning in the conference. However, more losses like this could potentially hurt their standings in the future.

The opponent for the Golden State Warriors tonight is the Portland Trail Blazers. Portland actually had the opposite experience leading into All-Star Weekend. They won four games in a row, with big wins over the Lakers, Bucks, and Grizzlies.

They’ll look to take down another top team when they host Golden State. Between these two, who’s the best bet to cover the spread?

Golden State Warriors: Searching for their 43rd win

Just because they lost the last two games doesn’t mean it’s time to ring the alarm. The Warriors are a great basketball team, with a ton of talented players. Now there is some unfortunate news, Draymond Green has been ruled out for this game.

Along with him is James Wiseman and Andre Iguodala. These injuries could definitely be a problem when covering the spread tonight.

The games against the Trail Blazers are always very close. Over the last ten games, the Warriors are 6-4 against the Trail Blazers. However, when they faced them in early December, the Warriors won the game, 104-94.

The Warriors came in as 14.5-point favorites, so they still didn’t cover the spread. Overall, the Warriors have gone 29-26-4 against the spread this year.

Portland Trail Blazers: Playing for their spot in the top-ten

Portland is going to have to fight to earn their spot in the NBA Playoffs. They have the No.10 spot in the Western Conference and are 2.5-games behind Los Angeles.

A couple of wins for them could see them move up in the conference. Today, they have a chance to secure another conference win, provided they can beat Golden State. If not, their grip will loosen on their spot.

Portland has the 20th-ranked offense in the NBA, averaging 108.17 points per game. At home, the Trail Blazers are 16-16 this year, which doesn’t give us much confidence.

With Damian Lillard and others sidelined, the Trail Blazers are in a tough spot. It’s not easy to slow down the elite shooting of Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry. That being said, who should you take?

Our pick for the Golden State Warriors at Portland Trail Blazers

The Trail Blazers come into this game as 9.5-point underdogs. With injuries to Draymond Green, James Wiseman, and Andrea Iguodala, we like these odds.

The Trail Blazers can focus on strong interior play instead of scoring from the outside. They’ve kept games between them and the Warriors close before as well.

You also have to take into consideration that both teams are coming out of the All-Star break. They could be slightly sluggish to start the game, with neither team getting far out in front of the other. This 9.5-point spread gives us just enough breathing room to take the Trail Blazers and the under.

Prop Pick

Golden State (-110) UNDER 116.5 Points

Golden State is averaging 110.5 points per game on offense, which ranks No. 12 in the league. That average drops to 107.1 points per game on the road. Scores have gone UNDER in 21 of the Warriors’ last 28 games as a Vegas road favorite.

With Dunkel predicting a Portland win by the score of 108-105, take the Warriors (-110) to finish UNDER their Vegas team total of 116.5 points against the Trail Blazers.
