A wild finish to the Yankees-Orioles game yesterday was made more interesting when New York reliever Bryan Mitchell was inserted at first base. The move came in the 10th inning after Mitchell had pitched the 9th and was designed to keep him available if he should need to pitch in the 11th. It worked out that way and he headed back to the mound only to take the loss, 7-4. In doing so, Mitchell became the first Yankee pitcher to play a regular position since 1983 when Billy Martin put Ron Guidry in center field to complete the Pine Tar Game.
