Betting Overview

Toyota drivers have been dominant here over the last seven races, winning five of them. In fact, three Toyota cars took the first three spots last year.

Martin Truex Jr. is one of those drivers who has performed well here since 2019 and looks to repeat his success. For bettors, he makes a very strong case to be picked.

Head to Head Matchup to Watch

Chase Elliott (204.591) and Martin Truex Jr. (210.761) are two drivers you need to watch out for in this race. Elliot is still holding onto his first-place position in the Cup Series, while Truex Jr. is 17th and just outside playoff contention if it were to start today.

Elliot is the best driver coming into this race overall this season, and he has to perform well against a tough field that has done well here. However, Truex Jr. has been dominant here and could show up to take over.

Drivers That Could Win

Chase Elliott (204.591) has a target on his back every time he races now. He is the current leader in the Cup Series, but he will need more than that to get it done here. While he has not performed well here over the years, he deserves some respect.

Bubba Wallace (213.592) is a good pick that you do not have to think too hard about. He is coming into the event with four consecutive top-eight finishes, and three of those happened to be in the top five. For a Toyota driver and having positive momentum, this track could give him some magic.

Potential Winning Pick

Martin Truex Jr. (210.761) needs to land his first win of the season so he can be in talks for the playoffs. He is right at the line for the cutoff, so a victory would boost his chances.

At this race, he led with the most laps in 2017, 2018, won in 2019, runner up in 2020, and won in 2021. Out of all the other drivers, he has the best record and consistency to land another victory.

Prop Picks

Top 10 Finish: Tyler Reddick (-140)

Engine problems shut down Reddick early last week at Michigan, but prior to that the No. 8 car had been red hot with a 1st at Indy and a 2nd at Pocono. Reddick ranks No. 8 in Laps Led (316) and Driver Rating (89.7).

With Reddick rated No. 6 in this week’s Dunkel Index, take the No. 8 car (-140) to bounce back from last week’s troubles and finish in the Top 10 at Richmond.

Head-To-Head Matchup: Martin Truex, Jr. (-110) OVER Denny Hamlin

Truex has yet to win this season, but racked up another Top 10 finish last week with 6th place at Michigan, his third in the last four races. He has dominated at Richmond with three wins in the last six races and finishing no lower than 5th. Truex ranks No. 5 in Laps Led (455) and No. 6 in Driver Rating (91.0).

Despite having the fastest car last week at Michigan, Hamlin finished 3rd after incurring a penalty. It was just his second Top 10 finish in the last six races that also saw the No. 11 car come in 25th at Atlanta and 35th at Pocono. Hamlin ranks No. 7 in Laps Led (349) and No. 11 in Driver Rating (85.2).

With Truex rated No. 3 in this week’s Dunkel Index and Hamlin No. 5, these two should be in the hunt all afternoon long, but take Truex (-110) to have the edge in their matchup at Richmond.
