FCS Picks/Week 1

The Nebraska Cornhuskers try to rebound from their Week 0 loss in Ireland as they host FCS opponent North Dakota this afternoon. Kick off is 3:30 pm ET at Memorial Stadium.

The Huskers 31-28 loss to Northwestern last weekend increased the heat on head coach Scott Frost. The Nebraska defense allowed the Wildcats to pass for 314 yards and rush for another 214 while controlling the time of possession, 34:12 to 25:48. QB Casey Thompson did throw for 355 yards, but also had two costly picks, including one that closed out the game for Northwestern.

North Dakota is coming off a 5-6 season, but was competitive heading into the fourth quarter of every game. The last time the Fighting Hawks played a Power Five opponent was against Washington in 2018, a 45-3 blowout. This game looks to be much closer.

Nebraska is 12-0 against FCS opponents and should keep that perfect record intact with a win over North Dakota today. But look for the Fighting Hawks to keep this closer than the 22.5-point Vegas line in a defensive struggle that also holds the final score under the Vegas total of 49.
