FCS Picks/Week 7

South Dakota and Northern Iowa meet today in an important Missouri Valley contest with both teams hoping to avoid a second conference loss. Game time is 5:00 pm ET at UNI-Dome.

The Coyotes (4-2, 2-1 in conference) will hit the road following back-to-back home wins over Indiana State and North Dakota. South Dakota's 20-13 win over the Fighting Hawks was powered by a running attack that outgained UND 189-50. Freshman Travis Theis led the way with 138 yards on 23 carries (6.0 average) in his best performance since Week 1 against Kansas.

The Panthers (3-2, 1-1) are coming off their first conference loss in a 34-20 setback at North Dakota State. UNI trailed by only 3 points at the half (13-10) and outgained the Bison overall, 381-363. But the defense gave up two TDs to NDSU's Quincy Patterson in the 2nd half that allowed the Bison to pull away.

Dunkel has Northern Iowa bouncing back with a win at home and covering the Vegas line of 9 1/2. Defenses should dominate to keep the score under the Vegas total of 38 1/2.
