Edmonton Oilers at Winnipeg Jets Betting Preview

04 March 2023 By Ryan Knuppel

The 2022-23 NHL season is really starting to heat up as the playoff races in each conference continue to get tight. The Winnipeg Jets host the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday, just one day after these teams met up on Friday night.

Edmonton comes into this game with 76 points on the year, and that is good enough for fourth place in the Pacific Division. The Oilers have been playing well of late, and they will be a tough team to deal with in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Winnipeg comes into this game in fourth place in the Central Division, and they are currently in the middle of a long losing streak. The Jets still have 72 points on the year, but they desperately need to find a way to get back on track.

The Edmonton Oilers are the moneyline betting favorites in this game at -139 over the Winnipeg Jets.

Oilers Lighting the Lamp

The Edmonton Oilers are one of the best offensive teams in the league, and they have the most talented player as well. Edmonton comes into this game scoring 3.86 goals per contest, and they score on the power play over 31 percent of the time.

Connor McDavid is having a historic season for the Oilers, as he has racked up 121 points on 52 goals and 69 assists. Leon Draisaitl is another great offensive player, and this team can be hard to stop when they get on a roll.

The Oilers are allowing 3.25 goals per game this season, and that is something that needs to be improved as the season rolls along.

Jets Want to Slow Things Down

The Winnipeg Jets don’t have the offense to keep up with the Oilers, and they want to slow down the pace of this game. Winnipeg is scoring just 3.05 goals per game this season, but they are holding opponents to just 2.75 goals per game.

Winnipeg has killed off 84 percent of their own penalties this season, and that’s going to be a big key in this game. The Jets don’t want to take any penalties, but they have to kill off any miscues that they might have.

Kyle Connor leads the way with 67 points on the year, and it’s going to take a total team effort for Winnipeg to score enough to win this game.

Oilers Roll to Big Win Over Winnipeg

These teams have very similar season stats on the year, but the Oilers proved their dominance over the Jets on Friday night. It’s very rare that these teams meet up for a second straight night, but you should expect a similar result in this game as well.

Winnipeg just doesn’t have the scoring ability to keep up with Edmonton, and that’s going to be a big problem in this game. The Oilers just continue to be nearly unstoppable on offense this season, and they are going to have another big performance on Saturday.

Bet the Edmonton Oilers -3.0 as they are going to pick up another blowout win over the Winnipeg Jets by simply outscoring their rivals on Saturday night.
