Edmonton Oilers at St. Louis Blues Betting Preview

26 October 2022 By Cole Paganelli

A pair of Western Conference heavyweight teams meet up on Wednesday night in St. Louis as the Blues host the Edmonton Oilers. These teams just met up in Edmonton a few days ago, and it was St. Louis that picked up the win.

It has been an interesting start to the year for the Oilers, as they just haven’t been able to find any consistency. Edmonton comes into this game with six points on the year, but they have left some points on the board.

St. Louis has picked up six points through four games, but they suffered their first loss of the year the last time out. The Blues are a perennial power, and they will look to pick up another impressive win over the Oilers.

The Edmonton Oilers are the moneyline betting favorites in this matchup at -115 against the St. Louis Blues.

Dynamic Duo Leading Edmonton

The Oilers have two of the best offensive players in the NHL on their roster, and those two players are lighting up the scoreboard. Edmonton is scoring just 3.67 goals this season, but they are capable of being even better on offense.

Leon Draisaitl leads the way with eight assists and 11 total points, and he is usually dishing the puck to one player. Connor McDavid leads the team with five goals, and he is always dangerous with the puck on his stick.

Getting stops continues to be an issue at times for the Oilers, as they are allowing 3.33 goals per game. There will be a ton of pressure on goaltender Jack Campbell to play well in this matchup.

St. Louis Slowing it Down

The St. Louis Blues are certainly capable of winning hockey games in a number of different ways, but they have been slowing down the tempo so far this season. St. Lois is scoring just 2.75 goals per game, but they are holding opponents to just 2.25 goals against.

Vladimir Tarasenko leads the team with six points this season, and that includes four assists. The Blues have scored just two power play goals on the year, and that unit will need to play well in this game.

Goaltender Jordan Binnington is a perfect 3-0 on the year, and he actually shut out the Oilers in Edmonton. St. Louis has not allowed a power play goal this season, and that has allowed them to get off to a fast start.

Blues Beat Up on Oilers

Edmonton is going to be out for revenge after getting shut out by the Blues this weekend, but this just isn’t a good matchup for them. St. Louis has been able to slow teams down all season long, and they are going to be physical with Edmonton.

The Oilers will be able to find the back of the net in this game at least once, but that offense will be frustrated again. Look for Binnington and the Blues to take control of this game on Wednesday night as they continue their fast start.

Bet the St. Louis Blues -1.5 as they pick up another win over the Edmonton Oilers by at least two goals on Wednesday night.
