EchoPark Automotive 500 2022 Betting Preview

NASCAR being so unpredictable this season has been great for fans but nearly impossible to handicap. If any prognosticator had Chris Buescher snapping a 223-race losing streak last week at Bristol, then more power to them.
Buescher became the 19th different driver to win a race this season, tying 2001 for the most in the modern era. Three non-playoff drivers won the first three events of the postseason, with Erik Jones getting the win at Darlington and Bubba Wallace taking the checkered flag at Kansas.
Now we head to the Texas Motor Speedway for the EchoPark Automotive 500, where Kyle Larson is the defending champion. Let’s take a look at some of the best bets for this race barring another wild card finish.

Kyle Busch (228.402)
Kyle Busch is a lame duck driver, leaving Joe Gibbs Racing at the end of this season to join Richard Childress racing. After some engine troubles last week caused a 34th place finish, Busch is also now out of the playoffs, not making the round of 12.
JGR is swapping Busch’s pit crew with Denny Hamlin’s for the rest of the season. Busch’s crew is a bit faster, and it’s a somewhat controversial move, so it would be a perfect Busch move to go out and get this win in Texas, where he won in 2020 and has been in the top 10 in six of his last seven trips.
Tyler Reddick (227.917)
Busch’s move to Joe Gibbs Racing has a trickle-down effect, one that has Tyler Reddick losing the #8 car next season. Reddick is leaving at the end of the 2023 season anyway to join 23XI Racing, so it could be a very interesting next year for the 26-year-old.
Reddick was eliminated from the playoffs after the Bristol night race, but he had a top 10 finish at Texas last season and was on the pole for the All-Star race here in the Spring.
Christopher Bell (226.896)
Christopher Bell might be making an under-the-radar run at a Cup Series championship this season. He’s currently in seventh place in the standings and running very well, picking up a fifth at Darlington, a third at Kansas, and a fourth last week at Bristol. Bell finished third place in this race last season, so he could be the best bet of the day.
Martin Truex, Jr. (226.421)
Many thought Truex, Jr. should have gotten into the playoffs, but with no wins this year, he ultimately was the first man out on points. Truex, Jr. lost his power steering last Saturday night and finished in dead last; not great when you’re driving the Bass Pro car -the sponsor of the race.
Truex, Jr. did pick up a runner-up at this race in 2020, and he was fifth at Kansas a couple of weeks ago. He’s been on an alternating solid-poor-solid-poor trend the last six races, and getting last at Bristol definitely has him due for a good run.
