A long season for the San Diego Padres (50-67) was typified yesterday when the Mets' Steven Matz took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against them before settling for a 5-1 victory. The loss dropped San Diego to 2-4 on its current road trip. But the Padres might have a little more luck as they head to Tampa Bay to face the last-place Rays (47-69) in the first of a three-game set.
