Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears Betting Preview
29 September 2021

NFC North rivals meet up in Chicago on Sunday afternoon as the Chicago Bears host the Detroit Lions. Both teams are trying to track down the Green Bay Packers in the division, but the second place does appear to be up for grabs.
The Detroit Lions come into this game with a record of 0-3, and there isn’t a ton of optimism or hope for this team in 2021. Detroit has been one of the worst teams in the NFL of late, but there are some solid pieces to build around.
Chicago was a playoff team last season, but the Bears are going to have to play much better if they want to be in the playoff mix this season. The Bears have been embarrassed in their two losses this season but did play well in their one win at Soldier Field.
The Chicago Bears are 2.5-point favorites over the Detroit Lions in this NFC North showdown.
Detroit Needs Some Defense
If the Detroit Lions are going to pick up their first win of the season on Sunday, then they are going to have to put forth a much better effort on defense. Detroit is allowing over 31 points per game, and that is putting way too much pressure on the offense.
Jared Goff has been tremendous so far in his first three games in Detroit as he has thrown for 801 yards and five touchdowns this season. Running back, D’Andre Swift is also having a solid year, averaging 3.7 yards per carry.
The Lions are facing a pretty solid Bears defense in this game, but they have the weapons to put points on the board.
Chicago A Mess on Offense
The Chicago Bears were an absolute mess on offense in a Week 3 loss to Cleveland, and it's unclear who will be under center for Chicago. Justin Fields is the logical choice, but it appears as if head coach Matt Nagy has no idea how to use him.
Running back David Montgomery has rushed for 203 yards through three games, and he needs to be featured on Sunday. Chicago has to find a way to extend some drives to give this defense a chance to dominate.
The Bears have given up some big plays in the passing game, but the defense can be great if it gets a little help from the offense.
Bears Get Back on Track
This is a matchup of two struggling teams, but this should be one of the most competitive games in Week 4. Even though both teams have been giving up at least 25 points per game, don’t expect a ton of offense in this one.
Detroit has been competitive at times, but they just continue to make some major mistakes that cost them games. This is a chance for the Lions to pick up a win, but it will be the Bears that make the important plays needed to win.
It’s going to be an ugly win, but it will be a win for the home team at Soldier Field. Bet the Chicago Bears -2.5 as they are able to get back on track and pick up an important win over the Detroit Lions.
