CFL Week 2 Betting Preview

After a thrilling and intense Week 1, the CFL is set to move into Week 2 games starting on Thursday. Just like with the previous week, there are four straight games of action, with one game taking place each day. 

The CFL continues to provide a great source of football entertainment while the NFL and college football are still in the offseason. Here is a look at each of the four Week 2 matchups and a Dunkel pick and prediction for each game.

Calgary Stampeders at Ottawa Redblacks

A pair of 0-1 teams will meet up in Ottawa on Thursday night as the Redblacks host the Calgary Stampeders. It was a pretty brutal performance from both teams in Week 1, but some team is going to pick up their first win in this one. 

Calgary does appear to be the much better overall team this season, and they are five-point betting favorites in this game. Ottawa just couldn’t get much going to begin the season, and it’s going to be another long night in this one. 

Take Calgary at -5.0, as they are going to win by at least nine points in this one. 

Winnipeg Blue Bombers at Saskatchewan Roughriders

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers were terrific in the season opener, especially on the offensive side of the ball. Winnipeg is looking for their second straight win to begin the year, and they are six-point betting favorites at Saskatchewan.

The Roughriders were able to pick up a victory in Week 1 as well, but they struggled to get much going on offense. This should be a game that features a ton of points, and Saskatchewan is going to struggle to keep pace. 

Take the six points and back Saskatchewan, but Winnipeg gets another win. 

Edmonton Elks at BC Lions

Edmonton is looking for their first win of the season when they travel to BC to take on the Lions in this Week 2 battle. The Elks were pretty solid on defense to begin the year, but things are going to be much more difficult in this matchup. 

The Elks are 7.5-point underdogs in this game, but they did prove that they are a team that is willing to battle. BC should be one of the best teams in the league this season, but there are still some areas that need to improve. 

Take the 7.5 points and bet on the Elks, but BC will get another win. 

Hamilton Tiger-Cats at Toronto Argonauts

The Hamilton Tiger-Cards will travel to Toronto to take on the defending league champions in the Argonauts. Hamilton does have an advantage of playing in Week 1, as Toronto was on a bye to begin the season. 

There is a chance that the Argonauts are going to be a bit distracted in this game, and they are only slim 1.-5 point favorites. Hamilton was great on offense in a Week 1 loss, and that will give them a chance in this matchup. 

Take the Tiger-Cats moneyline as they go on the road and pick up a big win.
