CFL Week 12 Betting Preview
23 August 2023

The action throughout the CFL has continued to heat up each weekend, and that is going to be the case yet again. We have now reached Week 12 of the CFL season, and the playoff picture is starting to come into focus.
There aren’t a ton of great matchups on the Week 12 slate, but that doesn’t mean that there won’t be some great intrigue or big plays in each game. Here is a look at all of the Week 12 matchups and a Dunkel pick and prediction for each of those matchups.
Montreal Alouettes at Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Time: 8:30 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Montreal 117.064; Winnipeg 117.933
Dunkel Line & Total: Winnipeg by 1; 49
Vegas Line & Total: Winnipeg by 8 ½; 47 ½
Dunkel Pick: Montreal (+8 ½); Over
The best game of the weekend might be the first matchup, as the 6-3 Montreal Alouettes are set to take on the 8-2 Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Winnipeg is a big 8.5-point favorite in this matchup, but that’s not giving the Alouettes a ton of respect.
Montreal comes into this game having won four straight, and they continue to get better on the offensive side of the ball. Winnipeg just has so many weapons on offense, and they should be able to run away from the Alouettes in this game.
Take the 8.5 points and bet on Montreal, but Winnipeg will survive with a win.
Calgary Stampeders at Toronto Argonauts
Time: 7:30 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Calgary 109.409; Toronto 122.446
Dunkel Line & Total: Toronto by 13; 41
Vegas Line & Total: Toronto by 9; 51
Dunkel Pick: Toronto (-9); Under
The 3-7 Calgary Stampeders visit the 7-1 Toronto Argonauts in Week 12, and this is a game that might get out of hand in a hurry. The Argonauts are nine-point betting favorites in this matchup, and there is no reason to believe that they will be challenged in this one.
Calgary is one of the worst defensive teams in the league, and Toronto is leading the league in points per game this season. The Argonauts will still need to play well to win, but that is exactly what should happen in this one.
Bet on Toronto, as they will roll to a double-digit win in this one.
Hamilton TigerCats at BC Lions
Time: 7:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Hamilton 106.831; BC 114.327
Dunkel Line & Total: BC by 7 ½; 39
Vegas Line & Total: BC by 10; 46
Dunkel Pick: Hamilton (+10); Under
The 3-6 Hamilton TigerCats visit the 7-3 BC Lions on Saturday for a matchup that could end up being better than you would anticipate. The BC Lions are big 10-point betting favorites heading into this game, but you should expect that Hamilton will put up a decent fight.
The TigerCats just haven’t been able to score enough points to win games, but they should have some opportunities in this one. BC hasn’t always been able to put teams away, and that will be the case in this game as well.
Take the 10-point and bet on Hamilton to cover the spread in a win by the BC Lions.
Ottawa Redblacks at Edmonton Elks
Time: 7:00 pm ET
Dunkel Ratings: Ottawa 106.298; Edmonton 109.473
Dunkel Line & Total: Edmonton by 3; 49
Vegas Line & Total: Ottawa by 1 ½; 45 ½
Dunkel Pick: Edmonton (+1 ½); Under
The final game of the weekend will feature a pair of bad teams, but that might actually lead to a good contest. The Edmonton Elks were finally able to win a game, and they will now look for win number two against the 3-7 Ottawa Redblacks.
The Redblacks are slim 1.5-point betting favorites on the road in this game, but this is finally a chance for Edmonton to gain some momentum. Edmonton has lost 22 straight games at home in an unbelievable streak, but it’s time for that to end.
Bet on the Edmonton Elks moneyline as they finally get to celebrate a win on their home turf.
