Week 1 of the 2022 NFL season is set to wrap up on Monday night as the Seattle Seahawks host the Denver Broncos. This is one of the most anticipated games set to be played in Week 1, as these teams made a pretty big trade in the offseason.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is now starting for the Denver Broncos after spending ten years with the Seattle Seahawks. The Broncos were not a playoff team in 2021, but there are some big expectations for this team in 2022.
Seattle is a team that is not expected to contend in the NFC West Division in 2022, and that division is loaded with great teams. The Seahawks have a number of new players on each side of the ball, and it could create some challenges early in the year.
The Denver Broncos are six-point betting favorites on the road against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday.
Broncos Will Throw the Football
Running the football and playing great defense has been the game plan for the Broncos over the last few years, but it will change in 2022. With the addition of Russell Wilson, Denver will be looking to pick up some yards in the passing game.
The Broncos have some talented wide receivers, and they should be able to find plenty of balance on offense. Denver will still have a strong defense, but the offense can do its part this season as well.
Denver isn’t going to be looking to win games in a shootout every single week, but the addition of new offensive talent allows them to win games in different ways.
Seahawks Must Spy on Wilson
If the Seattle Seahawks are going to win this game, then it is going to have to be won on the defensive side of the football. The secondary of Seattle will be tested, but the Seahawks must also have to plan for Wilson to take off and run the football.
Seattle still has some talented wide receivers on the outside, but there are some question marks surrounding quarterback Drew Lock. Look for the Seahawks to try and run the football in this game in an attempt to slow things down.
Head coach Pete Carroll knows how good Wilson can be, and he will have his defensive unit doing all that it can to slow him down.
Broncos Beat Up on Seahawks
The crowd in Seattle will be fired up for this game, and playing at home is usually a good thing for the Seahawks. While having a raucous crowd is a pretty big advantage for the Seahawks, it’s not likely to be enough help in this game.
Seattle enters the 2022 season with too many question marks, and the Denver Broncos could be one of the best teams in the AFC this season. Denver is going to have a new look on offense, and it will be that unit that is able to take control of this matchup.
Bet the Denver Broncos -6.0 as Russell Wilson is able to lead his new team to a win over his former team in Seattle.
Prop Picks
Denver (-105) OVER 26.5 Points
Seattle allowed 21.5 points per game on defense last season, which ranked No. 12 in the NFL. That average increased to 22.4 points per game at home. Scores have gone OVER in seven of the Seahawks’ last 11 games as a home underdog.
With Dunkel predicting a Denver victory by the score of 31-22, take the Broncos (-105) to finish OVER their Vegas team total of 26.5 points against the Seahawks.
Geno Smith (-115) OVER 210.5 Passing Yards
Denver allowed 214.8 passing yards per game on defense last season, which ranked No. 8 in the NFL. That average increased to 224.7 yards per game over the Broncos’ last 3 contests.
With Dunkel predicting the final score going OVER the Vegas point total, take Smith (-115) to finish OVER 210.5 passing yards versus the Broncos.
