Denver Broncos at Pittsburgh Steelers Betting Preview
07 October 2021

There are some interesting games on the schedule in the NFL this weekend, including one set to take place in Pittsburgh. The 1-3 Steelers host the 3-1 Denver Broncos, and each team is looking to get back on track.
Denver suffered its first loss of the season in Week 4, getting beat by the Baltimore Ravens by a score of 23-7. The Broncos are trying to stay in the playoff race in the AFC West, but they can’t afford to take on too many losses.
Pittsburgh has now lost three straight games after stunning the Buffalo Bills in the season opener. The Steelers are now in last place in the rugged AFC North Division, and they have to find a way to right the ship.
The Pittsburgh Steelers are 1.5-point betting favorites over the Denver Broncos in Week 5.
Denver Can Defend
The Denver Broncos have gotten off to a 3-1 start this season by being one of the best defensive teams in the league. Denver is allowing just 12 points per game, and that unit should play a key role in this game as well.
There are still some concerns on offense for the Broncos as they are scoring less than 21 points per game. Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater suffered an injury in the Week 4 loss, and there is a chance he could miss this game.
Running the football has been a strength of this team, and Melvin Gordon III will need to play well. Gordon has rushed for 248 yards this season, but he is going to see more touches in this matchup.
Steelers Not Scoring Points
The Pittsburgh Steelers have not scored more than 23 points in any game this season, and the offense has actually been much worse since Week 1. Pittsburgh is only rushing for 55 yards per game, and they have been abandoning the run way too early in games.
The Steelers might be forced to run the ball more against Denver as quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is dealing with an injury. Roethlisberger has thrown for over 1,000 yards this season, but he has not looked like himself to begin the year.
Pittsburgh can still play some defense, and that unit will need to take charge on Sunday. The Steelers aren’t going to win a shootout, but they will be able to compete in a slugfest style of game.
Broncos Beat Injured Steelers
Don’t expect a ton of points in this game, and that should keep this game competitive through all four quarters. Playing at home should be a big advantage for the Steelers, but they are also coming into this game with some serious injury concerns.
The Broncos could be without Teddy Bridgewater on Sunday, but they are comfortable with Drew Lock taking over the starting role. Denver has just been so good on defense through four games that it likely won’t matter which quarterback is under center.
Pittsburgh is a team trending in the wrong direction, and that trend will continue in Week 5. Bet the Denver Broncos moneyline on Sunday as they go into Pittsburgh and pick up a win over a depleted Steelers squad.
