Dallas Stars at Vegas Golden Knights Betting Preview
08 December 2021

>— Wednesday, December 08th Dallas Stars @ Vegas Golden Knights
There are a number of terrific NHL games on the schedule for Wednesday night, and one of the best is set to take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Vegas Golden Knights host the Dallas Stars in what could be a playoff preview in the Western Conference.
Dallas comes into this matchup having won seven straight games, and they are starting to look like a title contender once again. The Stars have improved their record to 13-7-2 on the year, but this will be one of the toughest tests during this run.
Vegas is now 14-10-0 on the year, and they sit in fourth place in the Pacific Division. Things haven’t always gone well for the Golden Knights, but they have won two straight games and come into this game with some momentum.
The Vegas Golden Knights are the betting favorites at -139 on the moneyline.
Stars Searching For Offense
Dallas has been scoring goals like crazy during this seven-game winning streak, but that hasn’t been the case all season long. The Stars are scoring just 2.86 goals per game, and that will have to improve as the season moves along.
Center Joe Pavelski leads the team with 19 points on the year, and he is also a key member of the power-play unit for Dallas. The Stars have scored on better than 26 percent of their power-play chances, and they will make Vegas pay for any mistakes in this one.
Braden Holtby has emerged as the top goaltender for the Stars, giving up just 2.18 goals against per game.
Vegas Struggling on Power Play
The Golden Knights have scored on just 14 percent of their power-play chances this season, and that is one area that must improve as the season moves along. Vegas is an elite team when it comes to killing off penalties, but they need to take advantage of penalties for opponents.
Chandler Stephenson leads the way for Vegas with 13 assists and 22 points, and he has really stepped up his play this season. Vegas is attempting nearly 33 shots per game, and they simply need to find a way to put more pucks in the net.
Robin Lehner has been inconsistent in net for Vegas as he has gone just 10-9 on the season.
Golden Knights Pick Up a Win
Dallas has started to pick up the pace on the offensive end of the ice, but they still have some trouble scoring goals at times this season. The Stars have been dominant on the power play, but the Golden Knights have also done a tremendous job on the penalty kill.
Vegas is always a tough team to beat at home, and they are playing with plenty of momentum as well. The Golden Knights still have some work to do on the power play, but they are terrific when it comes to five-on-five hockey.
There won’t be much separation between the two teams on Wednesday night, but the home team will get a late goal to seal it. Bet the Vegas Golden Knights -139 as they pick up this win and end the long winning streak for the Dallas Stars.
