Dallas Stars at Colorado Avalanche Betting Preview

01 April 2023 By Ryan Knuppel

NHL Central Division rivals meet up on Saturday night in Colorado as the Avalanche host the Dallas Stars. The playoff race in the Central Division is one of the best in the league, and this game is going to have a massive impact.

Dallas has been in first place in the division for much of the season, but they have now been passed up by the Minnesota Wild. The Stars have picked up two wins in a row, and there is still plenty of time to get back in front.

Colorado comes into this game with 94 points on the year, and that has them just three points out of first place. The Avalanche have been making up ground in a hurry, but they still have some work to do.

The Colorado Avalanche are the moneyline betting favorites at -153 over the Dallas Stars.

Stars Shining on Offense

The Dallas Stars have been a terrific offensive team this season, and that’s why they will be a threat in the postseason. Dallas is scoring 3.4 goals per game, and they are going to provide a tough challenge to Colorado on the road.

Jason Robertson leads the team with 42 goals and 95 points, and he was a player that wasn’t a big name before the year. Robertson has had some help, though, as the Stars are converting on the power play over 23 percent of the time.

Veteran Jake Oettinger has been terrific in net for the Stars as he has gone 33-10-11 this season. The Stars want to score, but they also need to play some defense in this one.

Colorado Can Win With Defense

The offensive numbers for the Colorado Avalanche this season have been a bit disappointing, but that’s because they have changed the way they play. Colorado is holding opponents to just 2.7 goals per game, and they have been terrific on the penalty kill.

The Avalanche are still scoring 3.2 goals per game this season, but they aren’t even close to leading the league in scoring. Colorado is going to have to score goals to win this game, and they have the talent to get that done.

Nathan MacKinnon is having a great season for the Avalanche, as he has a team-high 63 assists and 95 total points.

Avalanche Survive Push From Stars

Since first place in the Central Division is still up for grabs for both of these teams, this game should end up being a battle. Colorado has won two of the first three meetings this season, and they have the advantage of playing at home in this matchup.

The season statistics for both of these teams are extremely similar, but the Avalanche are the team that has better individual players. Colorado is going to need a clutch goal at some point in this one, and they have a number of players that will step up to get that done.

Bet the Colorado Avalanche -153 over the Dallas Stars as the home team survives a big push from the visitors.
