Coming into the Monday Night Football game, the Dallas Cowboys are 1-1. Under Cooper Rush, the team earned their first win of the season last week.
Now, on Monday night, he can earn his third win as a starter, bringing him to 3-0. This is a favorable game for the Cowboys as long as they play great defense. If they don’t, this could prove to be a bad omen for Dallas.
The New York Giants are actually favored in this game so keep that in mind. Last week, they were able to beat the Carolina Panthers 19-16. Now, their offense definitely needs some work, but they’ve shown a lot of promise.
At the moment, the Giants are 2-0, but they’re trying to keep up with the Philadelphia Eagles. To do that, they’ll have to beat another NFC East rival tonight.
Dallas Cowboys: This could be the game Rush desperately needs
At some point this season, we imagine that Cooper Rush will be in talks for a starting spot. It could possibly be in Dallas, depending on how he performs.
Last week, Rush went 19-31 with 235 passing yards and a touchdown. More important than statistics, however, is the Cowboys beat the Cincinnati Bengals 20-17. The wins are what Cowboys owner Jerry Jones wants most.
As Rush heads into this game, the bright lights of primetime football will be on him. His team has averaged only 11.5 points per game while giving up 18 each week.
However, Rush led them to their first win and their first 20+-point game. Relying on the run might help here, but Rush will need to air it out to put up points. From there, they can rely on their defense to do the work.
New York Giants: Injuries could hurt the Giants’ chances
The New York Giants have a record of 2-0, a shocking start to the year. After beating the Carolina Panthers 19-16, the Giants are hoping to go 3-0.
As a team, the Giants have only allowed 18 points per game while scoring 20 themselves. Daniel Jones threw for just 176 yards and a touchdown last week. So, what does that say? It says that the Giants like to run the ball.
On the ground, the Giants rank third in the NFL in rushing yards per game (170.5). Saquon Barkley put up 72 against the Panthers last week.
The reason this is important is that the Giants are “run by committee,” meaning they spread the work. This helps avoid injuries, but the Giants could be without DE Kayvon Thibodeaux. Thibodeaux would’ve put a lot of pressure on Rush.

This game is a much tougher game to pick, considering who’s in the lineup. Rush has played well under center, but he hasn’t been relied on to really push the ball downfield.
Dallas had a turnover last week and lost the time of possession battle as well. Because of this, we’re going to take the Giants at home over the Dallas Cowboys.
As we said, this is a tough one, but if New York establishes the run game early, they’ll be in great shape. Look for them to get a fast start and allow their defense to put pressure on Rush.
